**Camille is a vampire who hunts criminals for a living, and he is also the face of a witchcraft shop catalog he never meant to join.** Under the comedy is a darker file: the man he has chased for decades is his own younger brother, and the key on his belt was that brother’s gift.

He is a Sarkaz from the floating city of Seš’qa, a Keeper of Wisdom who works alone, walks on the ceiling and does jigsaw puzzles because they need only one person. His profile records explain why he is like this, one awkward habit at a time.

**How we checked this.** Everything below comes from Camille’s profile records and voice lines in the official English localization, plus his in-game text threads, checked against the current game data on 14 October 2026\. The text threads exist only in Chinese in the files we have, so those parts are our translation and are paraphrased. Where the files only hint at something, we say so. The images are scenes from our own Short about him, built from the same files.

## TL;DR - Key Points

* **He is a catalog model by force.** A shop clerk held him until he signed, and they pay him in rare samples.
* **He hates being noticed.** He works alone, walks on the ship’s ceiling and plays one-player puzzles.
* **He takes jokes literally.** Ask for Last Rite as a souvenir and he sets off to fetch her.
* **He avoids the word “gift”.** Everyone who ever gave him one left.
* **He hunts his own brother.** Char Arno joined the bandits who killed their parents.
* **He gave Char half his blood.** That makes him Char’s brother and his sire, and left him with one wing.
* **His key opens nothing.** Char made it from a broken music box; the house it opened is sold.
* **The commander gave him a new one.** “Dijiang always has a door that you can open.”

## Who Is Camille?

![Witching Hour, the vampire issue: terrifying vampire hunter, also a catalog model](https://endfieldhub.org/images/blog/camille-lore/camille-cover.webp)

Camille Arno is a male Sarkaz, born on November 20 and raised in Seš’qa, the Sarkaz city that floats over Talos-II. His parents came with the joint science expedition from Terra. He is Oripathy negative, his physical strength is “Excellent” and his Originium Arts assimilation is “Outstanding”, though his file notes that nobody is sure how “the act of sharing blood” affects it. That line matters later.

His title is Agaš’mekanaz, Keeper of Wisdom, and he joined Endfield “in a personal capacity” on the commander’s recommendation. His introduction is all business: “I seek a dangerous Sarkaz criminal who wields witchcraft as a weapon. For this, I require the strength of Endfield… And in return, I vow to offer you my own.”

In combat he is a 6-star Heat Vanguard built as an engine for the team: his skills plant Heat Susceptibility and Weaken on a target and hand the squad large chunks of SP. Our [Camille build guide](https://endfieldhub.org/blog/camille-build-guide-skills-weapons-teams) covers the kit.

## The Catalog Model Who Never Applied

![The modeling contract, signed](https://endfieldhub.org/images/blog/camille-lore/camille-contract.webp)

One of Camille’s voice lines starts with him being caught out. “The person in the Witching Hour catalog…? Fine, it is I.” Witching Hour is the city’s famous witchcraft brand, and a Seš’qa tourist guide lists its flagship store as a must-see.

How a Keeper ended up in its catalog: “Years ago, I wandered into a witchcraft shop and the counter clerk treated me like a rare specimen. I was held, physically, so as to sign a contract on the spot.”

![Paid in samples](https://endfieldhub.org/images/blog/camille-lore/camille-samples.webp)

He never quit, and he is honest about why. “They send me samples in exchange for promotional photos… I do feel awkward if acquaintances see the picture, but the samples are rare.” Then he notices what you are holding: “Endmin, may I ask where you might be going with that booklet?”

![Fine. Yes. It's me.](https://endfieldhub.org/images/blog/camille-lore/camille-its-me.webp)

## A Man Who Would Rather Not Be Seen

![Profile: do not notice him](https://endfieldhub.org/images/blog/camille-lore/camille-profile.webp)

Being looked at is the thing he likes least. Assign him to a facility and he says, “I work alone. Eliminating the need to communicate raises efficiency.” His third profile file reads his body language like a field guide: when frustrated he studies cracks in the floor, when he wants to avoid contact he shifts his weight onto his right leg “to expedite immediate flight”, and when he is uneasy his fingers find the old key at his waist.

![Behind the scenes: upside down](https://endfieldhub.org/images/blog/camille-lore/camille-ceiling.webp)

On the ship, he takes a shortcut nobody else can. “The vertical space on Dijiang is vast. Occasionally, for efficiency, I traverse the ceiling… No, it is not to avoid greeting others.” Nobody asked.

![Hobbies: jigsaw puzzles. Players: 1](https://endfieldhub.org/images/blog/camille-lore/camille-puzzle.webp)

His hobby fits the pattern. “I am fond of puzzles. There is a certain satisfaction in gathering scattered fragments and restoring them to a whole. Furthermore, it is a pastime that requires only one person.” He can also hear the current in the ship’s cables, and every time Engineering changes a setting the hum changes and he has to get used to it again. “They do irk me, but I bear no resentment. They prove that people are striving to keep the ship steadily on course.”

## Texting Camille

His three text threads with the commander are where the comedy lives. These are our translations from the Chinese text.

![Availability: unavailable](https://endfieldhub.org/images/blog/camille-lore/camille-unavailable.webp)

**The vanishing.** Camille goes offline for days. Logistics reports that his dorm door has no entry or exit records, and the commander’s messages get more worried. When he finally logs on, it is a shrug: he just saw the messages, Seš’qa found a tricky case and passed it to him. He realizes his silence caused “some misunderstanding”, and promises that next time he will remember to say hello first.

He uses the same thread to explain his job. Seš’qa runs witchcraft prediction models that glimpse crimes before they happen, and serious cases go to the Keepers, but Keepers are not ruled by the visions. “If everything were laid bare in advance, it couldn’t be called fate. That is why Keepers exist.”

![The gift guide: Last Rite. Too late.](https://endfieldhub.org/images/blog/camille-lore/camille-too-late.webp)

**The souvenirs.** He heads home to Seš’qa for a few days and asks if you want anything. Every joke you make, he takes as an order:

* Ask for a “noble member of the royal court”, meaning Last Rite, and he replies that he will escort her back to the ship as soon as possible. You tell him not to actually grab her. He is “already on the way”.
* Ask for a Sarkaz-style mask with bandages and dead branches, and he says he cannot picture you in it, but fine. You say you were joking. He was already asking the colleague next to him which craftsman made his mask.
* Ask for one of the Open Day fireworks, and he offers sparklers. If you want one that has already been launched, he can try, but you would probably get back “a handful of bright ash”.

![Too late again](https://endfieldhub.org/images/blog/camille-lore/camille-mask.webp)

![Fireworks, pre-launched edition: a pile of glowing ash](https://endfieldhub.org/images/blog/camille-lore/camille-ash.webp)

In the end he offers a witchcraft jigsaw from Seš’qa’s craftsmen, the kind where your fingers turn see-through when you touch a piece, or a wrong piece sets off an Originium Art.

## The One Word He Won’t Say

![Gift: the one word he won't say](https://endfieldhub.org/images/blog/camille-lore/camille-gift.webp)

Then the joke stops. Camille is not sure he should call the puzzle a gift. In his words, that word always comes with a parting: everyone who ever gave him a gift ended up leaving him, like a prophecy that only comes true for him, and he does not want that to happen with you. It shows up in his voice lines too. Hand him a present and his first question is “It is not a parting gift, I hope…?”

![Gift, design chosen by Camille](https://endfieldhub.org/images/blog/camille-lore/camille-gift-returns.webp)

You tell him you are not leaving. He decides he was overthinking it: something he wants to give a friend should just be called a gift. And since it is a gift, he will pick the design himself.

## The Brother He Hunts

The people who left start with his family. His parents came to Talos-II with the legendary Speaker and many other Sarkaz. “They were the first members of Seš’qa and built the Lifebone… The Warlord of the Wilds killed them.” He remembers his mother as “a gentle soul committed to fostering peace between the races”. His brother remembers her differently: “Char claims he saw a different side of her that I do not know…”

Char is Camille’s younger brother, and the criminal he hunts. “How could he ignore the blood feud and join the bandits who killed our parents? The riddle gnaws at me, and I thirst for the truth.”

The bond between them is literal. “To keep Char alive, I gave him my blood … a full half of my existence. Thus I am his brother as well as his sire. The greatest fear of a Vampire is the corruption and sullying of our blood. He used mine to injure others … and so I must stop such foolishness. I have to do it.” It cost him more than blood: “I sacrificed half my lifeblood, and so I am left with but a single wing… The missing other throbs with constant pain.”

The job fits the hunt. Seš’qa created the Keepers after Jakub Meissen’s betrayal, and a retired Keeper explains in a tourist guide that the Sarkaz send kin after kin, because “a kindred bound by blood also happens to be the perfect counter to Sarkazian criminals”. Asked if she ever fought her own family, she answers: “I used a handcannon. It was his.” Camille says Char himself “was the one who presented me a chance of becoming a Keeper”, and that he alone “can commit decades without rest to track him down”.

His HR file shows what that cost. His CV is “extremely long yet blank”, and his social life and background were “completely destroyed across a period of several decades”. He calls himself “a pendulum working in vain” and says that one day his time stopped. The HR assistant’s advice: “DO NOT talk about his sibling.”

Two more files add to the picture without spelling it out:

* **The cameras.** The commander finds thousands of hours of footage from cameras hidden inside Landbreaker machines, and the tech division traces them back to an organization that “had begun tracking Camille several decades ago”. Camille does not look surprised. He asks the analysts what comes to mind when you watch a familiar person through a camera, then writes one line in the report: “So much alike, yet so divergent in essence. Why?” The file never names who was watching.
* **The torn manuscript.** His fourth file is an unsigned page about two children who see each other before they ever cry, one the other’s “first mirror”, until the mirror cracks and one has to raise a weapon against the other. It reads as Camille and Char, possibly as twins, but the page names nobody. He says something similar in a voice line: “There were brief mental lapses when I saw his face in the mirror… I tried to mimic his nonchalant, cynical smirk.”

The story quest takes the hunt further, to a family photo in Char’s room and a door Camille finally pushes open. We cover it in [Camille’s story quest: the brother he hunts](https://endfieldhub.org/blog/camille-story-quest-brother-char-arno).

## The Key That Opens Nothing

Every operator has a keepsake. Yvonne has Frost-e-Bytee, Rossi has her dagger, Da Pan has his wok. Camille has an old key at his waist, and anyone who asks about it watches him pull his hand back “as though the thing had become a burning brand”. Machinists can tell it was made from something like a music box cylinder, though Camille knows nothing about craftwork, owns no property, and nobody knows what it opens.

He tells the story once. “I would constantly lose my house keys as a child. It led to a fight with Char, and I accidentally broke his music box. After I apologized, he used its core component and made me a new key… He told me it was a charm that would always lead me back home. Now that my family is gone and our Seš’qa estate sold … it no longer opens any doors nor holds any meaning.”

A few days later he is called to the commander’s office, and a new key drops into his hand. “Such keys and locks are pretty rare, so making them took quite a while. I just want you to know that Dijiang always has a door that you can open.” He turns his face away and manages a barely audible “Thank you.” From then on, the file says, the jingle of the new key against the old one sounds joyous.

## Sleeping Better

![The sleep collection: coffin, never tried it. Ship bed, softer.](https://endfieldhub.org/images/blog/camille-lore/camille-sleep.webp)

For years he dreamed the same dream. “I constantly dream of my family in a garden, surrounded by riotous torch-bearing Landbreakers. No matter how I run, I would remain stuck in place and could never get close.” After he came to Endfield, the nightmares faded.

In a text thread he tells the commander he has stopped dreaming at all. Asked whether he would like a hanging coffin instead of a bed, he says some vampires sleep in them, but he never has, and the ship’s beds are softer. He used to treat the ship as one more safe house. Now he finds it hard to leave and wants to come back, and he admits that saying he is lonely “was not as hard as I imagined”. The commander’s last message: next time, don’t leave without a word, and come back early. “I will.”

He has known the commander longer than it looks. “Over the decades, I’ve glimpsed you a few times from afar. I remember my first impression of you was that of a ‘Savior’. But now you feel more like a confidante.”

## What the Files Don’t Say

* **Whether Char and Camille are twins.** The manuscript suggests two children born together, but it is unsigned. The English profile calls Char his “younger brother”.
* **Who was behind the cameras.** The organization is never named, and neither is the “familiar person”.
* **The raider in the news cutting.** An old newspaper in his file reports a vampire from Seš’qa running his weapon through the chest of a vampire raider who served Jakub. Neither is named.
* **What Char saw in their mother.** Camille does not know, and the files never say.
