**Perlica is not a robot, but her own crew jokes that she is.** Endfield’s young Supervisor is so calm that new operators whisper she is a machine, and she plays along. Her secrets say otherwise: she cooks slug slime, races alone on her bike, and waited ten years for the Endmin.

Perlica is one of the first characters you meet in Arknights: Endfield, and the most composed one. Her character files, her messages and a handful of story scenes paint a very different person underneath: a Supervisor with extreme taste in food, a reckless hobby and a long, lonely wait behind the calm.

**How we checked this.** Everything below comes from Perlica’s profile records, voice lines, story dialogue and in-game messages in the official English localization, checked against the current game data on 8 October 2026\. Where we read between the lines, we say so.

## TL;DR - Key Points

* **Not a robot.** She is a Liberi, Oripathy negative. The rumor is a crew joke she plays along with on purpose.
* **She cooks the scary stuff, sincerely.** She refined a Landbreaker camp’s slug secretions, fermented mushrooms and root jelly in a lab, then offered the Endmin a taste.
* **“Scared of my cooking, or scared of the food itself?”** Her question when the Endmin hesitates.
* **Her fish meatballs made a trainee cry.** She watched “with a satisfied smile.”
* **At a cooking contest she made the Endmin cook.** “I’ll dictate the recipe and let you handle the cooking.”
* **She races alone on her bike.** Only the Endmin knows, and she beat her combat instructor by half a second.
* **The calm is an act she chose.** She became Supervisor young, after waiting about ten years for the Endmin to wake.

## Who Is Perlica?

![Perlica's personnel file: Supervisor, boss of Endfield, young, rebuilding civilization on an alien planet, with "aka Little Pelican" in red pen](https://endfieldhub.org/images/blog/perlica-lore/perlica-personnel-file.webp)

Perlica is the **Supervisor of Endfield Industries** and one of its official spokespersons. Her HR summary says she oversees the development of Protocol-Originium technology and manages the **Dijiang**, the huge ship held in stationary orbit above Talos-II. She is a 5-star Electric Caster, a Liberi born on March 16, and her profile rates her tactical acumen “Outstanding.”

She is also young for the job, and the file says so. The HR assistant, Martin Marvin Malen, writes that he “can hardly believe someone so young is capable of supporting the management of the entire Endfield Industries,” and quotes M3 on the question of whether she deserves the title: “This position exists because of Perlica. Don’t get the order wrong.” His one complaint is that she keeps risking herself on the front lines with the Crisis Team and keeps dismissing his requests to stop.

Her kit matches the job. Her ultimate, _Protocol ε: 70.41K_, “tele-protocols a massive piece of orbital debris into the battlefield.” Her full stats, builds and damage numbers are on [her operator page](https://endfieldhub.org/characters/perlica).

## Why Her Crew Thinks She’s a Robot

![A full-screen face scan of Perlica with the checklist Calm, Serious, Machine? all ticked and a PLAYED ALONG stamp](https://endfieldhub.org/images/blog/perlica-lore/perlica-robot-scan.webp)

Her third profile file explains the rumor. Wherever you meet her on the Dijiang, she “calmly greets you before immediately returning to her work,” and some operators joke that “beneath her Liberi appearance, she might actually be a machine, perfectly executing the directives of some higher intelligence.”

She does not mind. The file says she “occasionally plays along with the joke on purpose, lightening the mood and helping to ease the tension among the crew.”

The same file says where the calm comes from. After she became Supervisor, Perlica “forced herself to adopt the most appropriate demeanor to fulfill her duties.” The rest of this post is what slips out from under that demeanor.

## The Slug Slime Dish

![An evidence bag holding a bandit camp's "recipe": slug, squeeze; mushroom, wait; roots, boil???](https://endfieldhub.org/images/blog/perlica-lore/perlica-bandit-recipe-evidence.webp)

The best Perlica scene is a text conversation, the first of her personal message threads. It opens innocently. While investigating the Bonekrushers’ camp, she says, the team found the Landbreakers’ records of how they process “edible materials,” and “their final products are quite something.”

Then she starts describing them, and gets visibly into it:

* “Hmm, I would not call it a ‘recipe’…”
* “Besides things I can somewhat accept, like Originium Slug secretions, there are fermented Ruby Bolete caps, and gelatinous extracts from various plant roots…”
* “Judging from the raw materials left behind, I have to admire their imagination.”
* “These processed materials have complex flavors and unique textures. I must say, they deliver a striking impact, both to the palate and to the eye…”

![Three jars on a manila card: slug slime, fermented mushrooms and root jelly](https://endfieldhub.org/images/blog/perlica-lore/perlica-slug-slime-ingredients.webp)

The Endmin clearly sees where this is going, because her next line is a confession: “Guilty as charged. I could not help myself.” She brought the materials back aboard the Dijiang, refined them, ran trials, and now wants the Endmin to taste the results. She is careful to add that “everything was carried out under strict lab conditions, with medical oversight the entire time.”

## “Scared of My Cooking, or Scared of the Food Itself?”

![A dark card with the quote "Scared of my cooking... or scared of the food itself?" beside the sweating commander](https://endfieldhub.org/images/blog/perlica-lore/perlica-scared-of-my-cooking.webp)

The Endmin’s reply is a player choice, and both branches are funny.

**If you hesitate,** she asks, completely straight: “Scared of my cooking, or scared of the food itself?” Then: “Honestly, your reaction was about what I expected… I shall continue refining it. When the time is right, you will have another chance.”

**If you say yes,** she is delighted: “Not even a moment’s hesitation? Thank you, Endmin!” And then she does not serve it. “I shall hurry and refine it a little more. Hold tight, okay?” Agreeing only buys you a stronger batch later.

The joke is not that Perlica is a bad cook. **She sincerely thinks the food is delicious.** She is not pranking anyone; she is proud of it, and her ideal reaction is genuine praise.

## Did Chen Really Love It?

![The Flavor Impact dial pinned at STRIKING, with Chen's startled face and the red-pen note "Chen loved it?!" stamped SOURCE: PERLICA](https://endfieldhub.org/images/blog/perlica-lore/perlica-flavor-impact-chen.webp)

Perlica’s evidence is her best friend: “Chen already tried it. She could not stop praising it after her first bite.”

That is the only source for it, and it comes from the chef. Chen has no line confirming it, so whether she loved it or was being kind to her oldest friend is for you to decide.

## The Fish Meatballs That Made a Trainee Cry

![A bowl of fish meatballs giving off green fumes, falling tears, and the note "trainee: crying, Perlica: smiling" stamped IT WORKED](https://endfieldhub.org/images/blog/perlica-lore/perlica-fish-meatballs.webp)

It was not a one-off. Her second profile file is a work log from a trainee who studied under her and nearly quit from the pressure. Perlica noticed, comforted her, and shared “some strangely flavored fin meatballs I’d never seen before.”

“The taste was so strong it brought tears to my eyes, yet Supervisor Perlica just watched me with a satisfied smile…”

It worked, in its way. The trainee writes that “that day’s worries were washed away along with my tears,” and that Perlica “truly does have that kind of magic.” The log is signed by a trainee “who is still applying for the opportunity to continue her apprenticeship.”

## The Super Chef Contest

![A red Super Chef poster: Perlica's quote "I tried making it once, and it felt like..." trailing off into cough, as the chef's hat moves to the commander under a YOU COOK stamp](https://endfieldhub.org/images/blog/perlica-lore/perlica-super-chef-cough.webp)

In Wuling, Perlica invites the Endmin to **Wuling Super Chef**, a contest run by the Tianshi and the business owners of Fangxing Avenue. Reading the rules, the detail she notices is: “There are no restrictions on condiments and spices used by the participants.”

When the Endmin settles on a dish, she recognizes it. It is one “almost every Rhodes Islander mentioned,” and “though descriptions differ, all of them vividly remember the taste and recipe.” Then she says: “I tried making it once, and it felt like what the Endmin… _Ahem._ Well, Endmin, I’ll dictate the recipe and let you handle the cooking.”

She stops herself mid-sentence, coughs, and hands the stove to someone else. It is the closest she comes to admitting her cooking has a reputation.

## Her Other Secrets

The calm Supervisor has more off-hours habits than the robot rumor allows for.

* **She races alone on a bike.** Chen teases her for never taking time off. Perlica first insists she reads “literature and theoretical science, since they’re relevant to upcoming work,” then admits: “I enjoy racing through frontier lands, alone on my bike. Endmin … you’re the only one who knows about this.” In a later message she wins a private all-terrain race against her instructor, **Maze**, whose Arts “rank among the best in the Band.” He overtook her twice, and she won “by half a second at the final stretch.” Her one condition for racing with the Endmin: “Do not bail on me out of fear when the time comes.”
* **She secretly runs a wild invention contest.** Her profile says the true force behind Endfield’s **Crankcase Creative Contest** is Perlica, who revived it “to create a platform where she could relieve her restless hands and test the strange ideas in her head.” She has never officially entered.
* **She fights like a conductor.** Her finishers are called out as “Concerto!”, “Now, fugue!” and “Coda and finale!” She explains that her Arts instructor was a musician, and that she mastered combat once she read the flow of Arts “as musical notations and tempos.”
* **She delegates to Fiona.** “To see them met, I’ll gladly set aside other tasks … or ask Fiona to handle them.”
* **She named every cabin.** As a little girl she “explored every corner of Dijiang and nicknamed every cabin.”
* **She recruited Chen herself.** Chen Qianyu is the first operator she personally recruited as Supervisor, and her best friend. Chen “kept saying I always wore a stiff face, and only decided to help because she got too worried about me.” Chen’s file remembers the day they met differently: they shared a Mo bun beside a mud trail, and “the quiet and well-behaved Perlica ate way more than she did.” Chen’s side of that hire is in [Chen Qianyu’s six-word job application](https://endfieldhub.org/blog/chen-qianyu-lore-six-word-job-application-endfield).

## Why the Robot Act? The Ten-Year Wait

![A dusk-violet scene: an old photo labelled "little Perlica" beside a giant 10, YEARS ASLEEP](https://endfieldhub.org/images/blog/perlica-lore/perlica-ten-years-asleep.webp)

The calm makes sense once you read her first file. Like many Endfield operators, Perlica “survived a disaster as a child” and was taken in with other children who had lost their families. The person who saved her was the Endministrator.

A sealed audio memo from M3, addressed to the Endmin, fills in the rest. “Over a decade ago, you rescued her… offering her unwavering support at a time when she was still lost and fearful.” Then the expedition “would soon turn her life upside down once more… she lost you.” The Endmin went into hibernation. In the years that followed, most of the rescued children moved on, including Lycia, whom Perlica “considered a sister.” Responsibility piled up and the Techno-Protocol work “repeatedly hit roadblocks,” and she stayed on “this most difficult path” anyway. M3’s memo ends: “Go and have a chat with her. She’s been waiting far too long.”

![A visitor log for the sleeping commander: "The other kids" struck out twice, then Perlica, Perlica, Perlica, Perlica, under a MEMORY: 0% stamp and "not even of her"](https://endfieldhub.org/images/blog/perlica-lore/perlica-visitor-log.webp)

Perlica tells the rest herself, in a late-night trust line. She has been “looking at that same sleepy face of yours for a decade.” She visited the Sarcophagus with the other children, “just to see you hibernating peacefully. But as time passed, I was the only one left.” She kept coming “after I passed the operator trials, after I became the Supervisor…”

M3 was the closest thing she had to family in that time. “There was a time when I addressed M3 as my elder sister. But she put an end to that after I became an actual Endfield operator.”

When the Endmin finally wakes, it is without their memories. Perlica will not fill the gap for them: “I know it’s selfish, but I’d rather not bring up our past right now. I just hope you can find those memories on your own. This isn’t a request from the Supervisor of Endfield Industries. It’s from me.” She plans to “tell you everything once we restore your memories.”

She also says the reunion went better than she feared: she “rehearsed executing the Zeroth Directive countless times… But when I met you again in person, all those words flowed out of me naturally with great ease.”

## The Friends Waiting to Watch

A record that “has not been successfully deleted” shows that the poised Supervisor was nervous. Before the Endmin woke, she went to old friends and asked, dead seriously, how to get along with the Endministrator “she cares about so much.” One says she rushed into the training room so urgently “I thought something had gone wrong.”

Nobody gave her any advice. “We’re all just waiting to see how this plays out.” They promised to keep it confidential, “especially from the Endministrator,” and one adds: “it’s almost a shame we won’t get to see little Perlica pouting over this, isn’t it?”

## So, Is Perlica a Robot?

![FINAL RULING: Robot? NO., with Perlica beside a steaming plate of slug slime and the note "she just wants to feed you"](https://endfieldhub.org/images/blog/perlica-lore/perlica-not-a-robot.webp)

No. She is a girl who grew up waiting for the person who saved her, took charge young and decided to look the part. Under the calm she cooks things nobody else would eat, races alone where nobody can worry about her, and wants very badly to be remembered. And now that the Endmin is back, she wants to feed them. Probably slug slime.

## Is “Little Pelican” Her Nickname?

The fan-run Chinese wiki Moegirl lists “Little Pelican” among Perlica’s aliases, likely a play on her name (her internal game ID is `pelica`). We could not confirm how widely English-speaking players use it, so treat it as a fan nickname rather than an in-game one.

## Perlica’s Story in Order

1. **The disaster.** She loses her family as a child and is rescued by the Endministrator with other orphans.
2. **The loss.** The Endmin’s expedition goes wrong and they go into hibernation. She visits the Sarcophagus until she is the only one left.
3. **The rise.** She joins the R&D Center, drives Techno-Protocol breakthroughs and becomes Supervisor while still very young, running the Dijiang.
4. **The act.** She forces herself into the right demeanor for the job, and the crew starts joking she is a machine.
5. **Chen.** She meets Chen during a joint project with the HAS and makes her the first operator she recruits.
6. **The awakening.** She asks old friends how to act around the Endmin, executes the Zeroth Directive, and finds the Endmin has no memories of her.
7. **The kitchen.** She brings back the Landbreakers’ “edible materials,” refines them in a lab, and offers the Endmin a taste.
