**Yvonne’s father set fire to his own library to admit she had won, and she cheered.** After years of trying to raise her as a proper lady, he told her “we might as well burn the things.” Her drones then flew every book back out of the blaze.

That is one file in a much bigger story. Yvonne is the Vouivre engineer who shrank a hangar-sized Blight rig into Tata, held the Originium Science Park against the Landbreakers with home-made lasers, and swore as a crying child to decipher the Æther rift. Her profile records read like a list of rules she broke on purpose, and a few she broke by accident.

**How we checked this.** Everything below comes from Yvonne’s profile records, voice lines, text message threads, mission text and other characters’ lines in the official English localization, checked against the current game data on 12 October 2026\. Where the files only hint at something, or where we read between the lines, we say so. The images are scenes from our own Short about her, built from those files.

## TL;DR - Key Points

* **The fire was a surrender.** Her father burned his own library after years of forcing her into ballet, etiquette and classics. He called it “the price I have to pay.”
* **She cheered, then saved the books.** Her fire-and-ice drones flew the collection out. “The book collection of the library escaped unscathed.”
* **He was fined; she was offended.** “We actually applied precision controls and barely suffered any losses!”
* **Tweety-Bomb is a fowlbeast.** Her childhood pet raged in a cage, so she set it free. Her bomb drone started as a replacement.
* **The Æther made her cry.** A childhood trip to see the rift left her trembling under her blankets. She has been trying to decipher it ever since.
* **She built Tata.** She shrank the UWST’s giant TA-TA Prototype into the little bot that travels with the Endministrator.
* **Endfield bought her with data.** Unrestricted Ætherside access, at the Endministrator’s authority level.

## Who Is Yvonne?

![He burned his own library: a neon bookshelf in flames](https://endfieldhub.org/images/blog/yvonne-lore/yvonne-he-burned-his-own-library.webp)

Yvonne is a Vouivre operator of Endfield Industries, born on May 9\. Her file rates her physical strength, combat skill and tactical acumen as “Standard” or “Normal”, and her Originium Arts assimilation as “Excellent”. She is a 6-star limited Cryo operator who fights with a pair of handcannons, backed by a small zoo of her own machines: Frost-e-Bytee, the ice drone she sics on enemies; Tink-a-Bella, the support bot that also cleans her lab; and the Tweety-Bombs, her explosive drones, modelled on a bird she once had.

She joined the Specialist Tech Division through the “Specialized Talent Recruitment” channel on the recommendation of Crowe of UWST, and leads research on the Æther, the Blight and the “Trans-Æther Tranquilizer-Automata” tied to both. Her employment contract praises her for always offering “the most unique views regarding the directions of research projects or the strengths of her colleagues.”

The HR summary, written by an assistant named Martin Marvin Malen, admits that background checks describe her as “an engineer with an obvious streak of ‘rebellion’.” He disagrees, “and no, this has nothing to do with the laser stickers she adhered upon my chassis.” His theory is that most people simply cannot keep up with her train of thought, and that her violations “were never deliberate.” He ends kindly: “when our people described Yvonne as a ‘rebel’, they did so with a smile.”

## The Fire Report

Her second profile file is not a biography. It is a police-style “Investigation of an incident of fire.”

A fire broke out one night in the second-floor library of a house on the border between the suburbs and the central district. Most of the furniture and the “retro-style clothing” burned. Nobody was hurt. The windows were locked from the inside, the locks were undamaged, two sets of fingerprints were found, and the fire started at a carved armoire. Surveillance showed the homeowner and his daughter talking in the living room at 2000 hours. At 2100 hours, both went to the library.

The homeowner was not alarmed. “Apologies for troubling you into making this journey… But things are under control. People must burn the library once every a few centuries or so.”

The file never names the daughter. Yvonne does, in her first text thread with the Endministrator: “I fought those two for years! Won my arson privileges and let Tweety-Bomb torch all the junk!”

## A Proper Gaulish Lady

![The Family Library, and a kid told to carry it on](https://endfieldhub.org/images/blog/yvonne-lore/yvonne-family-library-carry-it-on.webp)

Her mother explains the library in the report: “My husband prepared that room before our girl was born. He wanted her to inherit that ancient culture, literature, and art, as well as to sow its seeds upon these new lands.”

The culture in question is Terran and old. “Yvonne is a Gallian name,” she says in a chat line. “Father told me that we inherited a great legacy and everyone in the family was pretty proud of that. But I don’t exactly share their sentiments. Terra is far enough away already, and that ancient empire was long gone.” She is unimpressed by the family’s famous ancestor too: “And then there’s this guy called Corsi-Something le First? Was he really that great to begin with?”

Her text thread fills in the childhood. “My parents named me after some old Gaulish trend. They were super into that whole ‘Retro Terra’ phase when they were young. Wanted to raise me as some proper ‘Gaulish lady’.” That meant “literature classes, music classes, etiquette bootcamps… Can you believe they tried to put me in a corset?! Like, what century is this?!”

![Lessons for a proper young lady: ballet and etiquette, scribbled out](https://endfieldhub.org/images/blog/yvonne-lore/yvonne-ballet-etiquette-nope.webp)

The governess in the fire report had given up long before the fire. “I’m no longer giving meaningful instructions to the young mistress. Ballet and etiquette do not interest her. She is only willing to play the piano. The combined might of a hundred burdenbeasts could not force her to do something she doesn’t like.”

![A hundred beasts of burden could not make her](https://endfieldhub.org/images/blog/yvonne-lore/yvonne-hundred-beasts-of-burden.webp)

Even the piano was a technicality. “Piano lessons were kinda fun. But then I realized I liked taking apart the instrument’s action mechanism way more than actually playing it!” By the time of the fire, the roles had flipped: “She’s teaching me how to compose Neo-Talosian music and it’s pretty interesting. Oh, I’m also learning electronic repairs from her. She has the engineer’s knack, if you ask me.”

## The Night He Gave Up

![We might as well burn the things](https://endfieldhub.org/images/blog/yvonne-lore/yvonne-dad-burn-the-things.webp)

The homeowner’s own testimony tells the rest. “‘Fine,’ I said, ‘since you’ve chosen your path, we might as well burn the things.’ She studied my face for quite a while. When we both realized neither of us was joking, she immediately started cheering.”

![And she cheered: YAY](https://endfieldhub.org/images/blog/yvonne-lore/yvonne-she-cheered-yay.webp)

“She said something about making a huge fireworks display and took out the contraptions she built… Maybe they’re called drones. Anyway, these gadgets of hers could spew fire and ice.”

![The fireworks show: a fire drone and an ice drone](https://endfieldhub.org/images/blog/yvonne-lore/yvonne-fireworks-fire-and-ice-drones.webp)

He watched it burn with her, and it hurt. “I actually felt a certain degree of pain. The books in the house may not be antique relics, but I spent quite a tidy sum on acquiring this collection… I guess it can’t be helped. It is the price I have to pay for spending years forcing her to go against her will. I have no choice but to demonstrate my stance.”

![The receipt: one library, for years of forcing her to go against her will](https://endfieldhub.org/images/blog/yvonne-lore/yvonne-the-price-receipt.webp)

## The Drones Saved the Books

![Books saved: all of them](https://endfieldhub.org/images/blog/yvonne-lore/yvonne-drones-saved-all-the-books.webp)

Then the twist. “But those two flying gadgets came buzzing out with the books. She giggled and said that we simply had different ‘tastes’ and questioned on the necessity of destruction. She went on by saying that her preference for New Talos-II Wave literature does not mean she dislikes stories from further back. She even said that she had memorized those older tales.”

So the report’s strangest line makes sense: the fire took the furniture and the retro clothes, and “the book collection of the library escaped unscathed.” She burned the retro clothes, not the stories.

## “So Why Are We Being Inspected?”

![The citation: planned incineration, fined](https://endfieldhub.org/images/blog/yvonne-lore/yvonne-citation-fined.webp)

The investigators ruled it “a private act of planned incineration.” The homeowner “has been censured and fined,” and the case went no further.

The daughter’s testimony is the funniest line in her file. “Erm… We actually applied precision controls and barely suffered any losses! So why are we being inspected?”

![Precision controls! Barely lost anything!](https://endfieldhub.org/images/blog/yvonne-lore/yvonne-precision-controls.webp)

Her father, meanwhile, lost his train of thought mid-interview. “So what was I saying again…? Apologies. I was too busy reminiscing about the smells given off by the fire. Oh, wait, I remember…” What he remembered was his peace offering: “I said to her, ‘We can make this into a proper workshop. And make a drone for me if you have the time. The one that can light my cigars.’”

## The Fowlbeast Behind Tweety-Bomb

The library was not her only childhood fight. “When I was a child, my parents were really busy and there was no one else around. So they gave me a fowlbeast as a playmate. It was loud, bad tempered, and kept messing up my room … but I really loved that creature.”

Her second text thread, sent while she panics over Tweety-Bomb’s chipped paint, goes further. The fowlbeast “trashed my room daily. We’d brawl so hard the air was nothing but feathers!” Then she understood why. “All that rage was cause I’d caged it somewhere it hated. …Just like us. Shoved into roles we never wanted. Rules, duty, all that junk. Nobody smiles like that. So I … opened the cage and let it go. Then I went full screw-your-expectations, and dove into mechanic design instead.”

Tweety-Bomb began as a stand-in. “At the very beginning? Maybe I … wanted a replacement. But after carving every detail myself, I realized this fiery idiot’s nothing like the original … and that’s perfect.” And the fowlbeast came back on its own, settling in the family garden “like it owned the place.” Her mother claimed it saw Yvonne as its mother, and that the fighting “was probably just avian teenage angst.” It is long gone now, but she still gets “that exact stupid-happy feeling” looking at its successor. “Precious stuff, important people, they might vanish someday. But hey, I’ve got this world-class missing-them skill.”

## The Rift That Made Her Cry

Her last profile file is a research diary, and it explains the career. Days into studying one section of the Æther rift, every instrument flatlines. A sign language interpreter returns only “Failed to interpret data.” She tries greetings, pulse messages and “the first note from the Movement: Genesis of the Universe,” then coloured light, because “if that thing can see things, perhaps it’ll like glittering stuff, like me!” Nothing works. “I HATE THINGS I CAN’T SEE!”

Then she asks herself why she bothers. “To protect Talos-II…? To prove myself…? Because I got a grudge against Pa and Ma…? No. I think it all started on that day.” As a girl she read about the rift, “found it beautiful,” and snuck off to the Protection Band to see it. “Looking at it feels like staring straight into the sun. The piercing pain then gave way to a sense of indescribable horror.” That night she was “bawling and trembling under my blankets,” and woke with eyes “swelled like peaches.” “And I don’t ever want to look like that again. So that’s it: I’m going to decipher it. It’s as simple as that. And I believe I can do it at Endfield.”

She admits the Blight now fascinates her as much as it scares her. “They come in all sorts of weird colors, like the conventional laws governing the optical spectrum don’t even apply… I can’t help but feel that they’re actually quite … enthralling.”

## From Intern to Endfield

Yvonne interned at the TGCC, HAS and UWST before Endfield made her “an offer that I simply couldn’t refuse: Unrestricted access to the Endfield databank on everything Ætherside! They even highlighted this particular line: ‘Access authority level shall be on par with that of the Endministrator.’”

The route ran through Valley IV. “I actually never intended to stay at Valley IV when I first arrived three years ago. But Professor Crowe showed me some rift data readings from the Æther Test Site, got me hooked right there and then! Shame we couldn’t agree on anything after that. Total research meltdown. Old Crowe couldn’t beat me, so he sent me to Andre instead.” With Endfield’s tech support she was “chugging out papers left and right for three years straight.”

## Tata, the Baby Bot

Her proudest project is the little robot that travels with the Endministrator. “When I first took over my Baby Bot project, the prototype was just humongous! They couldn’t even fit the thing inside the vehicle hangar!” The UWST wanted a heavy rig for big Blight outbreaks. “But what about people who have to deal with Blight creeping up their homes? Wait around and pray for the giant wooster rig to show up?” She spent months miniaturizing it in the Science Park. A colleague’s note in the game files worried that “miniaturization would mean sacrificing a number of functions” and that “the objective might be overly ambitious.” Another line confirms she won: “The TA-TA Prototype looked nothing like this when it was first handed over to Yvonne.” She also added “an emotional emulator module.”

Her design rule is in a trust line: “Maximizing machine performance was never the intention. Nope. My goal is to provide users with a panic-free and idiot-proof experience. Giving them a good laugh would be the cherry on top.”

In the main story, the Endministrator brings a damaged Tata to her lab in the Originium Science Park. By then she had already held the Park’s Research Center on her own. Workers note that she “made many of the traps and defenses in the Science Park,” that her “upgrades and mods have saved the lives of many Park workers,” and that she “actually stood up against the LBs on her own” with defensive lasers. One survivor sums it up: “in tough times like these, Yvonne really stepped up and became everyone’s hero.”

## Rebel, or Just Fast?

A “List of lost items” reads like her whole personality. A laser jelly bag with “a big friendly smiley graffiti”. Nail varnish that “changes color according to the concentrations of ambient Æther.” A children’s toy built from nuts and gears that “resembles an oddly familiar hexagonal structure.” A necklace-sized Æther counter with “not-yet-released algorithms.” Half a box of spicy buckflower cream puffs, with the note that the other half was seen on Supervisor Perlica’s desk. Cherry pink screwdrivers, kept rust-free. And the latest issue of the fashion magazine Monthly MARTHE, with a staff note wondering whether she is “the legendary Shadow Designer,” since she wore its cover outfit two weeks before it came out. The file ends: “Yvonne, I know that testing the prototype is important, but please claim your lost items.”

She loves Neo-Talosian music (“I LURRRV the song STEREO!”), the Witching Hour fashion label, New Wrankwood’s film festival and, surprisingly, the snowy quiet of Kjersch. She wants to refresh the Endministrator’s wardrobe with “something flashier and brighter.” And she still bends rules on the ship. Perlica banned her Tweety-Bombs as safety hazards, so “I compromised and dismantled the demolition modules before boarding.” She also swapped the thermal furnace connector in her lab, and “compatibility with an instant noodle cooker was purely _coincidental_… And … you won’t tell Perlica about this, right?”

![Coincidence. Shhh, don't tell Perlica](https://endfieldhub.org/images/blog/yvonne-lore/yvonne-noodle-cooker-coincidence.webp)

## The Little Engineer

One file shows her telling a story to the children of Valley IV, about a Little Engineer who visits strange planets, cannot find friends, collapses in the sand and then flies off to the stars. A child decides he was “eaten up by the Aggeloi.” Yvonne pulls out her hardware toy, “the first companion he built for himself,” and rewrites the ending: “The Little Engineer left because he made new friends, received an invitation from the brightest stars, and got a new place to stay!” Then she offers a bonus story about the Endministrator smashing the sun.

Her text threads end the same way. She builds the Endministrator a drone, “Tink-a-Bella 2.0,” tuned to their dominant hand, with “TERABYTE storage” for “Yvonne’s moments of the year.” She explains why: “Everything on Talos-II’s here-gone-boom… So we engineer the fragile memories!” Her fifth trust line says the same thing about the whole world. Music, fashion, sunrises over the Talosian horizon: “I actually know that everything I love is teetering on the edge of destruction. It’s the reason why I became an Endfielder… I haven’t had enough fun yet, so I’m not gonna let this world end on my watch!”

## So Why Did He Burn It?

![That girl is Yvonne](https://endfieldhub.org/images/blog/yvonne-lore/yvonne-that-girl-is-yvonne.webp)

The files are clear about his reason: he wanted to show her, in a way she could not mistake, that he had stopped forcing her. The fire was his concession, and the workshop was his peace offering.

What the files only suggest is why the moment fits her so well. She freed the fowlbeast from its cage, freed herself from the corsets, and saved the books because she never wanted to destroy anything. She just wanted to choose. That is our reading, not a line from the files, but it fits an engineer whose design rule is “tools should make life easier, not harder,” and whose idea of revenge on her childhood was a fireworks show.
