What is Artificing?

Artificing represents the ultimate equipment upgrade system in the endgame, letting you break through the normal limits of your gear by boosting its substats. While standard enhancement improves overall stats, Artificing focuses exclusively on pushing individual substat values higher.

Core Mechanics

  • Boost specific substats on each piece of gear
  • Restricted to Gold-tier (Rarity 5) equipment only
  • Each substat supports up to 3 upgrade levels
  • Catalysts vary by region and must match your gear

Late-Game Content

This system is built for players who have already acquired solid base gear. Prioritize obtaining quality equipment before spending resources on Artificing.

Artificing Requirements

Your gear needs to meet certain criteria before it becomes eligible for Artificing.

Rarity 5 Requirement

Only Gold-tier equipment (Rarity 5) qualifies for Artificing. Any gear below this rarity level is ineligible.

Highest Tier Only

Your equipment must also be Tier 4, the maximum tier available. This restriction ensures your investment goes toward truly endgame-worthy pieces.

Regional Catalysts

Different regions produce unique catalyst materials needed for Artificing. You'll need to farm the matching catalyst based on where your equipment originates.

Artificing Process

Here's the step-by-step process to artifice your gear and push substats to their peak values.

Pick Your Gear

Start by selecting a Gold Tier 4 piece that already has desirable base substats worth investing in.

Target a Substat

Decide which substat you want to boost. You can upgrade any individual substat a maximum of 3 times.

Spend Catalyst

Use the necessary catalyst to complete the upgrade. Unlike some gacha systems, every enhancement attempt succeeds without fail.

Continue Upgrading

Keep enhancing additional substats on the same piece until you've maximized its potential.

Deterministic Stats - Zero RNG

Good news: Arknights: Endfield uses completely deterministic equipment stats. Identical gear pieces always have the same exact stats, eliminating luck from the equation.

Tailor Upgrades to Your Operators

Select substats based on what each operator actually needs. Damage-focused characters scale well with ATK% and Crit stats, whereas support units often benefit more from defensive or utility-oriented boosts.

Prioritize Your Damage Dealers

Since catalysts are a scarce resource, spend them on your primary DPS operators first. This approach yields the greatest return on investment for combat performance.

Upgrade High-Impact Stats First

When catalysts are limited, target the substats that deliver the largest performance gains. For most damage-oriented builds, ATK% and Crit stats provide the best value.

Finish Your Sets Before Artificing

Ensure you've assembled a full equipment set before dumping resources into Artificing. The bonus effects from complete sets typically outweigh the benefits of enhanced individual substats.

Salvage Underwhelming Gear

Recycling unwanted equipment recovers a portion of your materials. Feel free to break down subpar pieces and redirect those resources toward upgrading superior gear.
