Gilberta has delivered letters all over Talos-II except one: a blank letter she carried out of the Originium Woods that nobody else had. After two years as a Messenger she knows who it is for, and what she will write on it.

Her files are some of the warmest in the game. A surgeon at Rhodes Island sent her off with a sealed letter and no deadline. She floated children up to the stars and pulled birthday cupcakes out of thin air. She tested her gravity Arts until they broke, met the Endmin with a bedsheet over her head, and kept dreaming about a quiet figure who seemed to be waiting for a letter.

How we checked this. Everything below comes from Gilberta’s profile records, voice lines and message threads in the official English localization, checked against the current game data on 19 October 2026. Where we read between the lines, we say so.

Short version first: Gilberta’s story in under three minutes, drawn as constellations in a night sky, from our YouTube channel. The full story with every source follows below. More backstories are on the Endfield lore hub.

TL;DR - Key Points

  • The blank letter: after leaving the Woods she found a blank letter by her side, the only one of its kind, and did not know what to write or who it was for.
  • Warfarin’s errand: a Rhodes Island surgeon gave her a sealed letter, no deadline, and one piece of advice: “Go see the world.” She took two years to deliver it.
  • The twist: that sealed letter was Warfarin’s recommendation of Gilberta herself, with the instruction “Wait for the Endministrator.”
  • The cupcake girl: a child with nowhere to go, whom Gilberta floated up to watch the stars on her birthday, now lives aboard the Dijiang studying to be a technician.
  • The limit: her gravity control broke down at eight gravity sources, where she could no longer keep teammates a few meters away safe.
  • The answer: the figure in her dreams has become someone she knows well, and she plans to write all she has felt on the blank letter for her “most important and special someone.” The game never names them.

Who Is Gilberta?

Gilberta is a Vulpo Messenger, recommended to Endfield Industries by Rhodes Island and now part of the Specialist Tech Division. Her medical file lists her as Oripathy negative, with standard strength and an “Excellent” rating for Originium Arts assimilation. Her Arts control gravity: she flies, floats objects and people, and can hold raindrops still in the air.

The HR summary describes her as someone who believes “sharing is caring.” Almost everyone on the Dijiang has received a small gift from her (the HR assistant got an electronic music record). She collects lipsticks, knows every color by its code, and wears red while “radiating every shade of color.”

In combat she is a 6-star Nature Supporter with an Arts Unit. Her kit, gear and teams are on her operator page and in our Gilberta teammates guide.

The Blank Letter From the Woods

The center of her story is a letter she never wrote. In her own words, when she had “just left the Woods,” she noticed a blank letter by her side. It felt like a symbol of her confusion, and she kept wondering why she was the only one who had it. Should she write on it? Who should it go to? She travelled far and found no answers.

The Woods are named once more in her files: on the day she meets the Endmin, she is “grateful for the Originium Woods left behind.” The game does not explain what the Woods were or who else came out of them. That gap is deliberate, and it is the mystery her whole story circles.

Warfarin’s Errand: Go See the World

Gilberta’s first real assignment came from Warfarin, a surgeon at Rhodes Island. Gilberta expected missions. Warfarin explained that Rhodes Island “was not in a position to make itself known to the public,” and that a Messenger would do better travelling under the open sky.

So she got a letter sealed with an industrial company’s crest, no delivery deadline, and one encouragement: “Go see the world.” Gilberta read it as a nudge to bond with the planet before answering her calling, and she wanted that too. Her first profile record follows her on that road under a steel-grey sky, stopping to watch burdenbeasts, flying wing to wing with fowlbeasts, and catching a falling raindrop on her fingertip with her Arts. “Take it slow, I’ve got plenty of time,” she tells herself.

She took two years. Along the way she delivered medicine to the carrot farms of Alloycarrot twice, and she drops spare emergency kits at rest stops in the Blight-prone wildlands for travellers in trouble.

There is one unsettling note about Warfarin. Gilberta mentions a time Warfarin got her birthday wrong, apologised, then called her by the wrong name in a panic, looking “really confused … and lost,” and sat brooding at the dinner table long after Gilberta left. The game does not explain it. For more on Warfarin herself, see who Warfarin is in Endfield. Her whole history, from Kazdel to Talos-II, is in Warfarin’s backstory.

The Girl Behind the Stars

Her second record is the one most players remember. Wherever she landed, children swarmed “Miss Messenger” for candy, origami animals and colored pencils, and drew the birds from her stories.

One evening a girl with nowhere to go tugged at her skirt. Gilberta touched her head and floated her into the air, and they watched the moon rise together. When the girl asked whether she was going home, Gilberta said her home “hides beyond the sky and behind the stars themselves,” and that her colleagues already wanted to meet such a brilliant little girl. Then she counted down from three, and two cupcakes appeared in her hands. She had remembered the girl’s birthday.

The record ends with the payoff: that girl now lives aboard the Dijiang, Endfield’s ship in orbit, studying to become an official technician. When things get hard, she takes a cupcake to the Bridge and looks down at Talos-II.

Gravity, Tested to Breaking

Her training logs, written by Lil’ Dodge, show how strong she is and where she stops. In the first test the chamber was rigged with gravity field generators, and she finished in a third of the estimated time with unusually little collateral damage. The recorder calls her a possible “one-woman armada-breaker.”

Later sessions pushed her harder. With eight non-directional gravity sources shifting around her, she could still keep stable gravity around herself, but at critical thresholds she could not stabilize the area a few meters away, which means she could not guarantee the safety of teammates nearby. She was dissatisfied with herself. The recorder disagreed: “she did more than enough.”

That worry runs through her voice lines. On promotion she says she wants to be everyone’s most reliable support, “but there are times when I get a little worried about being … qualified enough.”

A Messenger Who Hates Being Lonely

“Loneliness is the messengers’ companion, but I could never get used to it.” In distant places she took out a compass to find her bearings back toward Rhodes Island. She talks about solo flights after sunset, wondering whether someone somewhere is looking at the same stars, and a lonely star gives her “an indescribable sense of loss.”

She also reads letters without opening them: decorated envelopes suggest happy stories, rain-wrinkled ones suggest hard journeys or partings. In one message thread she admits that when a recipient is sad, “my mood sinks right along with theirs,” and that a lot of the time all a Messenger can do is stand by and watch. Her goal is simple: “I want to be a messenger who’s never lonely.”

The Twist: The Letter Was About Her

The sealed letter she carried for two years turns out to be a recommendation. “The first letter I delivered was a recommendation that Surgeon Warfarin wrote for me.” It came with one instruction: “Wait for the Endministrator.”

She spent the trip wondering what this Endmin was like, and boarded the Dijiang nervous. Meeting them after their “accidental awakening,” she says, made all her worries fade.

A Bedsheet, a Tackle-Hug, a Cot

Her last profile record is the actual meeting, and it is played for laughs. Gilberta is in a hospital ward playing hide-and-seek with rescued children, a white bedsheet over her head. The door creaks, she floats over the giggling kids like a dandelion seed and whooshes at the newcomer for a tackle-hug. “Hehe, gotcha!”

It is not a child. It is a figure in a specialized mask, head tilted. Gilberta goes crimson, steps back, catches her heel on a cot and lands on its edge. The Endmin had come to check on the rescued children and would rather play than give the speech they were scheduled for. They pick up her bedsheet and ask whether catching them means they are now “it.” Her verdict: “You are nothing like the rumors.”

So Who Is the Letter For?

Two of her lines close the loop. In her dreams of places she has seen, “there’s always a figure standing in silence, as though waiting for a person … or a letter.” Recently that figure has become clearer, “someone whom I’m … pretty familiar with.” And about the blank letter, she now believes she should “jot down all that I’ve felt and fantasized … then deliver it to my most important and special someone.”

The game never names that someone. Everything else points one way. She tells the Endmin that even while flying she casts a long shadow, as if something tethers her to the ground, “just like how these letters link me … to you.” In the blue-rain message thread, when the Endmin asks if they are one of the moments she wants to remember, she answers “You’re different. I just want you to be in all of my moments,” then panics and changes the subject. Reading the Endmin as the letter’s recipient is our interpretation, but it is the one her files keep inviting.

So Who Is Gilberta?

A girl who came out of a strange forest with an empty page and no idea who it belonged to, so she became the person whose job is knowing exactly who every letter belongs to. She took the long way on purpose, made a lonely child’s birthday unforgettable, found the edge of her own power and hated it, and carried her own recommendation for two years without knowing. The one letter she has never delivered is the blank one. By her own account she finally knows what to write on it.
