LIINO LORE: WHY SHE BLOCKS HER DJALL POWERS

Table of Contents
Liino was accused of using Djall mind control on her fans, but her earrings and hairpins actually suppress her powers. She refuses to use them on stage, and the rule traces back to her mother.

Liino’s fanbase jumped from a few hundred to over ten thousand almost overnight, and the gossip press decided there had to be a trick. Her files tell the opposite story: a girl who can read anyone’s secrets, wearing jewelry to keep that gift switched off, because of a warning her mother gave her before an accident took both her parents.
How we checked this. Everything below comes from Liino’s profile records, HR summary, voice lines and trust dialogs in the official English localization, plus one line from her story quest, checked against the current game data on 21 October 2026. Images are frames from our YouTube Short and use Hypergryph / Gryphline art. Where we read between the lines, we say so.

Short version first: Liino’s backstory in under three minutes, told through the colours she sees in people, from our YouTube channel. The full story with every source follows below. More backstories are on the Endfield lore hub.
TL;DR - Key Points
- The accusation: the Weekly Art gossip column asked whether her rise was “Genuine Public Support or Djall Witchcraft?” and floated the idea that she weaves ancient Djall witchcraft into her music.
- The truth: “the witchcraft in my earrings and hairpins actually suppresses my Djall powers.” She will not allow her innate power on her stage.
- What a Djall can do: reading a hidden secret from people is “just as easy as taking a drink of water” for them. Liino sees people as colours.
- Her mother, Freida, warned her that people don’t feel happy about having their souls laid bare. A man who knew Freida asked Liino whether that was why she never uses her powers in performance.
- Her parents died in an accident when she was eight. She was the only survivor.
- The promise: on her last day out with her parents, her mother told her she would become “the most radiant star of La Fantoma” if she put her heart into it. She is now the Morning Star of La Fantoma.
For the story quest itself (the faked kidnapping, the sky concert and the balance sheet), read our Liino story quest breakdown. This post covers what her operator files say about where she came from.
Who Is Liino?
Liino is a 6-star Electric Supporter in Arknights Endfield and, in the game’s words, “a rising star in the Civilization Band’s pop culture scene, widely known as the ‘Morning Star of La Fantoma’.” Her profile lists her race as Sarkaz, her date of birth as July 27, her authentication as the Talos-II General Chamber of Commerce (TGCC), and her Originium Arts Assimilation as Excellent. She joined Endfield Industries “for personal reasons” and handles parts of its external communications and public outreach.
Her HR summary adds one line worth holding on to for the rest of this post: “Liino rarely talks about her family.”
Was Liino Accused of Using Mind Control?
Yes, in print. Her FILE 3 is a run of clippings from the Weekly Art Star News Column, and the first one, Issue 143, is titled “The Mystery Behind Her Sudden Fame: Genuine Public Support or Djall Witchcraft?”

The column notes that her fanbase “has exploded from a few hundred to over ten thousand in no time” and that her debut album, “Fly Talosian and Go Supersonic”, sold out. Then it turns on her Djall identity:
“One informant even told me that his own sister became an obsessive fan of Liino after hearing just a single song, despite having shown no interest in idols beforehand.”
“Some even speculate she is weaving ancient Djall witchcraft into her music. While the academic world firmly insists there is no evidence for so-called ‘recordable witchcraft’, that has done little to stop the rumor mill.”

Liino jokes about it on Dijiang: “Sheesh, people should STAHHP making up ridiculous stories about Djalls. One smile and people will screech: ‘SHUT UP AND TAKE MY WALLET!’ … Endmin, keep still and look at my face! Now … feeling any uncontrollable urge to gimme all your cash?”
What Is a Djall?
The files never define the word in one place, but they agree on what it means. Her profile says Sarkaz, she calls herself a Djall, and her mother “was also a Djall” from Seš’qa. In her voice line “Topic: Djall”, she describes the gift in her mother’s words:
“Mother warned me as a girl. The minds of others can be very enticing for Djalls. While whipping their hearts, I must never neglect to whip my own… Reading a hidden secret from people is just as easy as taking a drink of water for us. We don’t even have to work for it. And that’s why we often forget that people don’t feel happy about having their souls laid bare.”

Her FILE 4 shows how it works for her: she usually perceives people as colours, “the clearly separated reds and blacks, blues and yellows,” and reads them that way.
Why Does Liino Wear Jewelry That Blocks Her Powers?
Because she won’t have her own gift on her stage. This is Trust Dialog 3, in full:
“Because I’m a Djall, they’ve made all sorts of over-the-top stories about me, like, how my songs are imbued with mind-control arts or how I’d use witchcraft instruments to manipulate my audience… But Endmin, the witchcraft in my earrings and hairpins actually suppresses my Djall powers. I won’t permit a single ‘flaw’ on my stage that isn’t part of the show … even if that flaw is my innate power.”

Her tag “Street Wisdom: Idol-Tier Negotiation” makes the same point from another angle: “She can get zealous fans to quiet down and make annoyingly invasive reporters speechless. And she can do these without using her Djall Arts.”
So the tabloids had it backwards. The one idol on Talos-II with a real claim to reading her audience’s minds is wearing hardware to stop herself.
Who Asked Liino About Her Mother?
Fleming, known as the “Bridge Builder”, a senior business consultant to the Witching Hour. In FILE 4 he finds her backstage, and she knows at once he has come for her. Instead of a person’s usual colours, she sees three overlapping ones in him: “A somber blue. A mournful green. And a deep, veiled purple.” Then he asks the question:
“You’re a very gifted Djall … and yet you’ve never once used your abilities in performance. Is that because of what Freida taught you?”

“Liino froze for a brief moment. She had almost forgotten how long it had been since anyone last said that name to her. Her mother’s name.”

Fleming remembers Freida as someone who loved Leithanian classical music and had his people track down musical sheets from Terra. “But then … she took them all with her. She gave up everything to run away with some Liberi from Mieszko Industries. Just like that… It’s been over twenty years now, hasn’t it?” As he talks, the colours around him shift “into a faded yellow, like old musical sheets her mother once adored and she now kept close.”
Liino never answers his question on the page. The file moves straight on to business (more on that below).
What Happened to Liino’s Parents?
Her HR summary, written by HR assistant Martin Marvin Malen, states it plainly:
“According to the files she submitted, her parents passed away in an accident when she was eight, and she was the only survivor.”

The game does not say what kind of accident it was. We also can’t confirm from the files that the Liberi Freida ran away with was Liino’s father; it is the natural reading, but the text never says so.
What Is Liino’s Dream About the Purple Rose?
In Trust Dialog 4 she tells the Endministrator about a dream from her girlhood:
“When I was a girl, I would dream of a lovely purple rose. With a cloud-white ship we flew across the boundless skies, and the rose told me stories about the stars… One day, the red storm appeared. The ship capsized with the rose, dragged into a dark whirlpool. After that? Well, I woke up all by myself … and I never, ever dreamed again.”

Our reading: a ship that goes down in a storm and a girl who wakes up alone sit very close to “the only survivor” of an accident at eight, and her perfume, “Sincerity”, opens on lilac and rose. The game never ties the dream to the accident or the rose to her mother, so treat that as interpretation.
The Obsidian Festival Promise
Her voice line “Topic: La Fantoma” is the last memory she shares of her parents:
“Day one of that Obsidian Festival was the last time I went out with my parents. The beautiful sunset dyed the city’s fringes red. I pointed to a girl holding a mic on the most visible poster on a skyscraper and asked my mom: ‘Mama, can I ever become someone like her?’ Mom smiled, patted my head, and encouraged me for the first time. ‘It’ll happen. If little Liino puts her heart into it, she’ll become the most radiant star of La Fantoma.’”

Today the epithet fans use for her is the “Morning Star of La Fantoma”. And in her story quest, an excited Endfielder picks one show above the rest: “I have to show you her absolute best performance! It’s the one from the Obsidian Festival… She really lives up to the name ‘Morning Star of La Fantoma’.”

So Why Does She Switch Her Powers Off?
Her stated reason is perfectionism: no flaw on stage that isn’t part of the show. Fleming suggests the deeper one, her mother’s teaching. Put her mother’s two lines side by side and they point the same way. One says a Djall can take anyone’s secrets for free and forget that nobody wants their soul laid bare. The other says she will become a star if she puts her heart into it.
Our reading: Liino wins her audience with her heart, not her powers, because that is the only way her mother ever told her she could. Her own line in “Topic: Idol Singer” fits it: an idol is “a ship that carries hope”, and her dream “has always been to sail Liino the Ship and reach the highest peak of Talos-II.”
What the Short Left Out
Fleming’s offer. FILE 4 continues past the question. Fleming offers a partnership, first with the Witching Hour, then with Seš’qa: “whether it’s Djall-related rumors or external negotiations with different factions … Seš’qa would be happy to help you remove anything that gets in the way of your perfect performances.” The price: “Information, access, connections … something along those lines.” The file ends on “Now then, may I hear your answer?” Her HR summary fills in what happened: Fleming “took the opportunity to negotiate a partnership with Liino,” the exact terms remain unknown, and “her later shift toward more daring stage performances, along with the gradual fading of the rumors, suggests the outcome was positive for everyone involved.”
The critics. Weekly Art did not stop at witchcraft. Issue 151 reviewed her first concert, themed “Breaking the Stage”, quoting Mr. Louis Henson: “Visually impressive, but somewhat excessive… Her vocal technique still needs work.” Issue 155 conceded she was “remarkably candid regarding her Djall identity,” with an editor’s note insisting the article “was not influenced in any way by Liino’s sincere on-stage thanks toward the Weekly Art editorial department.” By Issue 158 her demo “Starlight Over New Wrankwood” had passed a million streams.
The fan who helped her. FILE 2 is a diary entry from Evelyn, a fan from the Asphalt Roundabout, who went to her first fan meeting in La Fantoma. Liino remembered her: “Twinkle-twinkle! I remember you! At the Asphalt Roundabout bus station, you helped Liino get her travel pass, didn’t you?” Evelyn wanted to say how much she loved a song Liino made up on the spot that day, and couldn’t get the words out. “Yet somehow, she seemed to hear them anyway.” With her powers held down, that is either very good memory or very good reading of a face, and the file leaves it there.
