Purrchena Best Teams: Who She Enables
Table of Contents

Purrchena arrives free and at max potential on September 24, 2026, along with a max-potential sword. That combination makes her the rare free unit where the interesting question is not whether to build her, because the answer is obviously yes when the cost is zero. The interesting question is which three operators you put next to her.

We covered her kit and loadout in the Purrchena build guide. This post is about the other three slots, and about one gear conflict that will quietly waste a full set on a lot of accounts.

The usual caveat applies and we will state it once. Her skill text is confirmed from the Version 1.5 preview program. Her multipliers, cooldowns, gift weightings, and the proc rate on her Arts Susceptibility are not. Everything below is built on mechanics rather than numbers, because mechanics are the part that survives launch.

TL;DR - Key Points

  • She is an enabler with a sustain floor, not a healer. The Arts Susceptibility on her Ultimate is the reason she goes in a team, and the Giftbox healing is a bonus you cannot schedule.
  • Do not control her. Her Combo Skill fires when the controlled operator is attacked, so she has to be off-field to do her main job.
  • Any Arts carry is a valid partner. Her best contribution is element-agnostic, which is why she fits more teams than most free 5-stars.
  • Typhoeus is the standout specific pairing, because Purrchena’s free Battle Skill recast applies the Nature Infliction Typhoeus consumes.
  • The Eternal Xiranite trap: the set says the effect cannot stack, and Ardelia also applies Susceptibility. Two wearers on one team is one buff paid for twice.
  • She does not replace a dedicated healer. Reactive plus random is a floor, not a plan.
  • Ember still out-tanks her on raw stats, so on a developed account build Purrchena as a support and leave the blocking to the 6-star.
  • Gear, not roster, is the real constraint. She wants a full Eternal Xiranite set before she does her actual job.

What She Actually Brings to a Team

Three things, and they are worth very different amounts.

Arts Susceptibility, from her Ultimate. This is the payload. A susceptibility debuff multiplies what your carry already does, it does not care which Arts operator you own, and it scales with your account rather than with hers. It is also a chance on the Ambassador’s Special gift rather than a guarantee, which is the honest asterisk on the whole plan.

Protection, from her Battle Skill. She shields herself and nearby operators, and successful blocks extend the duration and return SP. This is the survivability floor, and it is the most reliable thing in her kit.

Reactive healing, from her Combo Skill. It fires when the operator you are controlling gets attacked, then rolls one of three gifts: a Bomb for damage and extra Stagger, Handicraft for a pull and damage, or Yummy Dessert for continuous healing. One of those three is healing. That is the problem.

Put those together and you get a support who raises your ceiling with the Ultimate, raises your floor with the shield, and occasionally heals. Build the first two and treat the third as a rebate.

Three outcomes, one of which is healing. Plan around the shield instead.

The Defender Slot: How She Compares

Before building around her it helps to know what she is displacing. Here is the current Defender roster with real numbers.

OperatorRarityWeaponElementMain / SecHPATKRange
Ember6-starGreat SwordHeat176 / 12063756843.0m

Catcher4-starGreat SwordPhysical176 / 10663756273.0m
Purrchena5-starSwordPhysicalTBDTBDTBDTBD

Two things stand out. Every existing Defender uses a Great Sword at 3.0m, and Purrchena uses a Sword, which no other Defender does. The Sword pool is otherwise Guards, Strikers, and Vanguards, so she is genuinely a new shape rather than a cheaper Snowshine.

The second thing is that Ember’s stat line is not close. If your account has Ember built, Purrchena is not taking the tanking job from her. She is taking a support slot that Ember was never in. That distinction decides how you gear her, and it is why the established-account answer is Eternal Xiranite rather than raw HP.

Team One: The Arts Susceptibility Escort

Purrchena . Arts carry . second applicator . dedicated healer

This is the default and the reason she is worth a gear set.

The plan is simple: your Arts carry does the damage, Purrchena’s Ultimate makes them take more of it, and Eternal Xiranite adds a separate team damage buff every time she shields or debuffs. The second applicator exists to keep reaction payoffs live, and the healer exists because Purrchena’s healing is not something you can build a rotation around.

Rotation shape. Open with the applicator so there is something on the target, control your carry, and let Purrchena’s Combo Skill fire off-field as your carry absorbs hits. Cast her Battle Skill before you need the shield rather than after, because the SP return on the first successful block is what feeds the Frontiers trigger if you go that route. Use her Ultimate on cooldown, since every cast is another roll at Ambassador’s Special.

The honest limit. If the Arts Susceptibility proc rate lands low, this team is a shield plus a small team damage buff, which is still fine for a free unit but not exciting. That number is the single biggest unknown in her kit.

Team Two: The Typhoeus Nature Shell

Purrchena . Typhoeus . Ardelia . flex

This is the pairing with a real mechanical lock rather than a general fit.

Purrchena’s Battle Skill gets a free recast after a set period that deals Nature damage and applies Nature Infliction, at no SP cost. Typhoeus gains a bonus Sign on every Aerial Basic Attack that consumes Nature Infliction, and Signs are the only thing that unlocks her Combo Skill and refills her Hunting Arrows. So Purrchena is not just a shield in this team, she is feeding the resource loop directly.

The timing is the convenient part. Typhoeus headlines Winter Hunt on September 2 and Purrchena arrives September 24, so anyone who pulled Typhoeus in Phase 1 gets a free applicator three weeks later. Our Typhoeus pairing guide ranks her against the other Nature applicators competing for that slot.

The flex slot is where this team is decided. Ardelia covers Corrosion and real healing, which frees the fourth slot entirely. If you own a grouping support, put it here, because Typhoeus is a zone operator and everything good in her kit pays per enemy standing in the same place.

Watch the gear overlap. Ardelia applies Susceptibility, Purrchena applies Protected and Susceptibility, and both of them therefore want Eternal Xiranite. Read the next section before you farm two sets.

Team Three: The Physical Stagger Team

Purrchena . Physical carry . Chen Qianyu . flex

This is the build for players who want her doing something measurable rather than waiting to react.

Her Bomb gift deals Physical damage with extra Stagger, and her Handicraft gift pulls enemies together while dealing Physical damage. On Swordmancer, which gives Stagger Efficiency Bonus +20% and adds a hit dealing 250% ATK of Physical damage plus 10 Stagger on a 15 second cooldown, she stops being a passenger in stagger breaks and starts contributing to them.

The tradeoff is explicit: Swordmancer means giving up Eternal Xiranite, which means giving up the team damage buff and most of her support value. Take this build only if your account is short on stagger and long on damage, which is a real situation in boss content but an uncommon one.

Do not build this first. Eternal Xiranite is the higher-value set on almost every account, and a second full set is a lot of farming for a situational alternative.

Team Four: The Early-Account Frontline

Purrchena . Endministrator . Ardelia . any applicator

For a new or returning account this is close to a free endgame-capable team.

Purrchena is free and max potential, her sword is free and max potential, Endministrator is free and scales with investment rather than pulls, and Ardelia is handed out through the login event with a free 6-star Arts Unit attached. The whole team costs zero Oroberyl.

The reason it works is that Purrchena covers the two things new accounts are usually missing at the same time: something that holds a line, and something that makes the carry hit harder. Most free units do one or the other.

Gear it loosely. A new account will not have a full Eternal Xiranite set for a while, and she is still worth fielding with whatever three-piece set you can actually assemble. Our gear priority guide covers what to farm first.

Protection is the reliable half of her kit, and the half you should actually plan rotations around.

The Eternal Xiranite Conflict Nobody Is Planning For

This is the part that will cost people a set, so it gets its own section.

Eternal Xiranite reads: HP +1000, and after the wearer applies Amp, Protected, Susceptibility, or Weakened, other teammates also gain DMG Dealt +16% for 15s. Then the line that matters: this effect cannot stack.

Purrchena is an unusually good fit for it because she hits that trigger from two independent skills, Protected on her Battle Skill and Susceptibility on her Ultimate. That is the correct read and it is why the set is her pick.

The problem is who else is standing next to her:

  • Ardelia applies Physical and Arts Susceptibility, so she triggers the same set.
  • Ember and Snowshine apply Protection, so they trigger it too.
  • Any operator layering Arts Susceptibility is in the same category.

If two of them wear Eternal Xiranite on the same team, the second set contributes HP and nothing else, because the damage buff cannot stack with itself. That is a full gear set of farming converted into a stat stick.

Frontiers has the same clause. It gives Combo Skill CDR +15% and a team DMG +16% buff after the wearer’s skill recovers SP, and it also says the effect cannot stack. So the rule generalises: one team-buff set per team, on the operator who triggers it most often.

On a Purrchena team, that operator is usually Purrchena, because two trigger conditions beat one. Give her Eternal Xiranite and build Ardelia into LYNX instead, which scales her actual healing and staples 15% damage reduction onto every heal, or into a plain stat set. Whether Eternal Xiranite and Frontiers stack with each other across two different wearers has not been tested, so do not build a plan that depends on it.

Who She Does Not Work With

Worth saying plainly, because “free support” invites the assumption that she fits everywhere.

  • A second Susceptibility applier wearing the same set. Covered above, and it is the expensive mistake.
  • Teams where you want to control her. Her Combo Skill needs someone else taking the hits. If your comp wants the Defender on-field as the main body, her most frequent contribution is switched off.
  • Pure crit-scaling comps that need a buffer instead. Nothing in her confirmed kit scales off crit, and a support who adds raw damage buffs will out-contribute her on a carry that is already surviving comfortably.
  • Content where the healing has to be reliable. Reactive plus one-in-three is exactly the wrong shape for a fight that spikes. Bring a real healer and let her shield.

Teams By Content Type

ContentTeamWhy
Single-target bossPurrchena . Arts carry . applicator . healerSusceptibility uptime on one target matters most, and the shield covers telegraphed hits
Wave clear and farmingPurrchena . Typhoeus . Ardelia . grouping supportHandicraft pulls plus a zone carry, with Corrosion feeding the Nature loop
Stagger checksPurrchena . Physical carry . Chen Qianyu . flexSwordmancer plus Bomb gifts turn her into a stagger contributor
Early account progressionPurrchena . Endministrator . Ardelia . applicatorZero pull cost, covers frontline and carry amplification at once

Boss fights are where the Ultimate does the most work, because a susceptibility debuff on one target for a long fight is worth more than the same debuff spread across a pack that dies anyway.

Wave content flips it toward the gifts. Handicraft grouping and Bomb Stagger both scale with how many enemies are in front of her, which is also when her randomness hurts least, since you are casting often enough for the averages to even out.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

  • Controlling Purrchena. Her Combo Skill triggers on the controlled operator being attacked. Playing her directly turns off her most frequent ability.
  • Two Eternal Xiranite wearers on one team. The buff cannot stack. This is the single most expensive planning error available with her.
  • Cutting your healer because she heals. Reactive and random is a floor. Fights that actually threaten you will find the gap.
  • Building her as a tank on a developed account. Ember has 6375 HP and 684 ATK. Purrchena’s job on that account is the debuff, not the blocking.
  • Farming Swordmancer first. It is the situational build. Eternal Xiranite is the one that changes what her teams do.
  • Assuming the Arts Susceptibility is reliable. It is a chance on one gift out of a set. Until somebody measures it, treat it as upside rather than as the plan.

What Would Change These Recommendations

  1. The Arts Susceptibility proc rate. If it is high, she is a genuine support staple across every Arts team. If it is low, she is a shield with a nice gear set.
  2. The gift weighting on her Combo Skill. If Yummy Dessert is common, she edges closer to replacing a healer in easier content and the fourth slot opens up.
  3. Her Battle Skill recast cooldown. The entire Typhoeus case rests on that recast applying Nature Infliction often enough to matter. Nobody has measured it.
  4. Her confirmed attributes and range. She is the first Sword Defender and there is no precedent for what that means for her reach. If she sits further out than 3.0m, the escort teams get easier to play.
  5. Whether Eternal Xiranite and Frontiers stack across different wearers. If they do, a two-buff-set team becomes a real option and the gear advice above loosens considerably.

Final Verdict

Purrchena is a support who happens to wear the Defender label, and the teams that get the most out of her treat her that way. Give her Eternal Xiranite, put her next to an Arts carry, control the carry rather than her, and let the shield and the debuff do the work while the healing arrives when it feels like it.

The pairing worth planning around is Typhoeus, because that one is a mechanical lock rather than a general fit, and the timing hands it to Phase 1 pullers for free. The pairing worth being careful about is Ardelia, not because they clash on the field but because they compete for the same gear set, and that set explicitly refuses to stack.

For a new account she is close to a free team in one operator. For a developed one she is a gear set away from improving comps you already run. Either way the cost is a login, so the only real decision here is which set you put on her, and that answer is Eternal Xiranite until somebody proves the proc rates say otherwise.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who is the best teammate for Purrchena in Arknights: Endfield? Any Arts-damage carry, because the Arts Susceptibility on her Ultimate is the strongest thing she contributes. Typhoeus is the specific standout, since Purrchena’s free Battle Skill recast applies Nature Infliction and Typhoeus consumes Nature Infliction for bonus Signs.

Is Purrchena a healer or a tank? Neither, exactly. She is an enabler with a sustain floor. Her Battle Skill Protection and her Combo Skill healing keep a team standing, but the healing is reactive and partly random, so she cannot replace a dedicated healer. Build her for the Arts Susceptibility and the team damage buffs instead.

Can Purrchena replace a dedicated healer on my team? Not reliably. Her Combo Skill only fires when the operator you are controlling gets attacked, and the healing gift is one of three random outcomes. That makes her healing a floor rather than a plan. In content that actually threatens you, run her alongside a real healer.

Does Purrchena stack with Ardelia? The operators work fine together, but their gear can conflict. Both apply Susceptibility, so both trigger Eternal Xiranite, and that set says the effect cannot stack. If you put Eternal Xiranite on both of them you are paying for one buff twice. Give the set to one and build the other differently.

Should Purrchena be the operator you control? No, and this is the most common way she gets played wrong. Her Combo Skill triggers when the controlled operator is attacked, so it fires when someone else is on the field taking hits. Control your carry and let Purrchena react from the bench.

Is Purrchena worth building if I already have a 6-star Defender? Yes, but build her as a support rather than as a tank. Ember out-tanks her on raw stats, so gear Purrchena for Eternal Xiranite, Treatment Efficiency, and Ultimate Gain Efficiency. You are paying for the Arts Susceptibility and the team damage buff, not for the blocking.

What is the best free Purrchena team? Purrchena, Endministrator, Ardelia, and any applicator you own. Every piece is free or close to it, Ardelia covers real healing where Purrchena only covers a floor, and Endministrator gives the team a Physical carry that scales with investment rather than pulls.

Does Purrchena work with Typhoeus? She is one of the better answers for that slot. Her Battle Skill recast applies Nature Infliction at no SP cost, which is exactly the resource Typhoeus eats for bonus Signs. The timing is convenient too: Typhoeus arrives September 2 and Purrchena arrives September 24, so Phase 1 pullers get a free applicator in Phase 2.

Which gear set should Purrchena run for team play? Eternal Xiranite, in almost every case. She applies Protected with her Battle Skill and Susceptibility with her Ultimate, which means she triggers the set from two independent sources rather than one. Just make sure nobody else on the team is wearing it.

How many teams can Purrchena realistically hold a slot in? More than most free 5-stars, because her contribution is a debuff and a buff rather than damage, and those do not care what element your carry is. The practical limit is gear: she wants a full Eternal Xiranite set to do her real job, so most accounts will run her on one or two teams until they can build a second set.
