Typhoeus lands on the Winter Hunt banner on September 2, 2026, and unlike most limited operators, the interesting question about her is not what to put in her weapon slot. It is who stands next to her.
Here is the caveat, stated once so the rest of this can be practical. Her skill text is confirmed from the Version 1.5 preview program. Her multipliers, cooldowns, talents, and potentials are not. Everything below is team-building logic built on mechanics rather than numbers, which is the part that tends to survive contact with launch.
The logic starts with one line in her Battle Skill. Every Aerial Basic Attack that consumes Nature Infliction on the target gives her a bonus Sign, and Signs are the only thing that unlocks her Combo Skill, which is the only thing that refills her Hunting Arrows, which are what her burst damage actually comes from. Read that chain backwards and her team requirement writes itself.
We already covered her loadout in the Typhoeus build guide. This one is about the other three slots.
TL;DR - Key Points
- Typhoeus needs one Nature applicator, not a Nature team. Her Aerial Basic Attacks eat Nature Infliction for bonus Signs, so a single teammate laying it is the whole requirement.
- Ardelia is the default answer because she is free, applies Corrosion, and heals, covering the applicator slot and the sustain slot at once.
- Gilberta has the highest ceiling. Typhoeus fires down into a fixed zone, so grouping enemies into that zone is worth more to her than to almost any other carry.
- Arcane in INT stance feeds her fastest, and the Corrosion she stacks also switches on Hot Work and Xiranflow, which are the two gear sets that pay Typhoeus the most.
- The free shell works. Fluorite solves the dependency today, and Purrchena solves it better from September 24 with a Battle Skill recast that applies Nature Infliction for zero cost.
- Do not stack a second Nature carry. Two operators competing for the same Infliction stacks is the most common way this team gets built wrong.
- Her Battle Skill hits two enemies at once, which changes the fourth slot in wave content and makes grouping supports better than raw buffers.
- Banner: Winter Hunt, Version 1.5 Phase 1, from September 2, 2026, with the Deep Cold Arsenal Issue weapon banner alongside it. Keep a 120-pull floor.
What Typhoeus Actually Needs From a Team
Her kit is two conversions in sequence, and the team exists to speed up the first one.
Aerial Basic Attacks make Signs. One per hit. If the target carries Nature Infliction, that hit consumes it and pays a second Sign on top. Her Battle Skill fires five of these at two enemies at once, so on a pack she is checking two targets for Infliction every hit, not one.
Signs unlock the Combo Skill at the threshold. Rampant Thorns drops the Barrage Array, a zone that deals continuous Nature damage, slows what stands in it, and raises the Nature Burst damage those enemies take. It also refills her Hunting Arrows.
Hunting Arrows are the burst. Her Battle Skill and her Ultimate spend them for extra Nature Burst damage, and the Ultimate hands back two more when it fires.

Rampant Thorns drops the Barrage Array and refills Hunting Arrows in the same cast.
So a Typhoeus team is not built around her element. It is built around whoever gets Nature Infliction onto the target before she presses her Battle Skill. Everything else is a preference.
One update worth flagging since we published the build guide. The Talos wiki now lists her main attribute as Agility with Will as the sub, where it previously read TBD. That matches the Agility Boost line on Umbra of Frigid Eventide. It is still pre-release data and Yvonne is the standing reminder that a high Agility number and an Agility main stat are different things, so confirm it on her attribute panel at launch. For team-building it means one thing: supports that buff ATK and elemental damage help her, and supports that buff Intellect do nothing for her.
Ardelia: The Default Partner
If you build exactly one partner before September 2, build Ardelia.
She applies Corrosion, which is Nature’s Arts Reaction, and she heals. That combination lets her occupy the applicator slot and the sustain slot in the same roster spot, which is worth more than it sounds when Typhoeus wants two of her four slots doing specific jobs. She is also free, and she comes with a free 6-star Arts Unit, so the investment cost is close to zero.
The gear consequence matters more than the damage. Hot Work pays out Nature damage after Corrosion, and Xiranflow stacks Electric and Nature damage on Arts reactions. Both sets are dead weight on Typhoeus without a Corrosion partner, and Ardelia is the cheapest way to switch them on. Building Ardelia is not just a team decision, it decides which gear you should be farming for Typhoeus right now.
The honest limitation is that Ardelia does not group, does not buff damage much, and does not solve anything at the top end. She is the floor, not the ceiling.
Gilberta and Why Grouping Pays Double
Gilberta is the partner who changes what Typhoeus is capable of rather than just making her work.
Typhoeus fights from above and drops a fixed zone. The Barrage Array covers ground, Hail of Arrows lands at enemy positions, and her Battle Skill checks two targets at a time. Every one of those is a per-enemy payout that scales with how many bodies occupy the same space. Gilberta pulls enemies together, which means the Array catches more of them, the slow lands on more of them, and the Nature Burst amplification applies to more of them before Typhoeus dumps her Hunting Arrows.

Hail of Arrows lands at enemy positions, so where enemies stand decides how much of it connects.
On top of the grouping, Gilberta applies Nature Infliction and the strongest Arts Susceptibility in the game, plus passive team Ultimate Gain. That last one is quietly relevant because Typhoeus’s Ultimate is also a hover extension, so faster Ultimate cycling buys her survivability as well as damage. Our Gilberta best-teams breakdown covers who else she enables if you are deciding whether she earns a slot across your whole account.
The catch is availability. Gilberta is a 6-star you either have or do not, and there is no free substitute for what she does.
Arcane in INT Stance: The Fastest Infliction Feed
If you want the highest Sign generation rate available today, it is Arcane in her Intellect stance.
Her Battle Skill is an area Nature Infliction, her Combo Skill applies Nature and Cryo Susceptibility, and her INT Ultimate force-applies Corrosion by itself. That last part is why she pairs so cleanly here. Typhoeus is constantly stripping Infliction off targets, and most applicators cannot keep up once she is airborne and eating a stack per hit across two enemies. Arcane reapplies faster than Typhoeus consumes.
The double-dip is the Corrosion. Arcane’s own Hot Work or Xiranflow build wants Corrosion on the target, and so does Typhoeus’s. One applicator, two operators cashing the same debuff, no competition for it because Corrosion is a reaction rather than a consumable stack. Our Arcane build guide has the stance rules, and the important one is that you commit to INT and never split Intellect against Will.
The cost is a slot with no healing in it. Run this pair with a dedicated sustain in the fourth seat or accept that you are dodging.
The Free Answers: Fluorite and Purrchena
You do not need a limited operator to make Typhoeus work, and it is worth saying that clearly because the dependency looks scarier than it is.
Fluorite is a free Nature Caster and she does the exact job the kit asks for. Her combo cooldowns are punishing and her damage is forgettable, but she puts Nature Infliction on things, which is the only thing Typhoeus needs from that slot. She is available today, which makes her the right answer for anyone pulling Typhoeus at launch with a thin roster.
Purrchena is the better free answer, and she arrives September 24, 2026 in Phase 2. Her Battle Skill recasts for zero SP after a set period, and that recast deals Nature damage and applies Nature Infliction. A free applicator on a free button, attached to a Defender who is also shielding the team, is close to purpose-built for this. Our Purrchena build guide covers her gear, and the short version for Typhoeus owners is that the giveaway lands three weeks after the banner, so plan the Fluorite shell as a bridge rather than a destination.
Neither of these tops a damage chart. Both let a day-one Typhoeus play correctly while you build something better.
Zhuang Fangyi and the All-Ranged Shell
This one gets recommended a lot on the strength of a surface similarity, so it deserves an honest read.
Zhuang Fangyi is also a Striker, also holds an Arts Unit, and also fights at 10.0m. Pairing them gives you a squad where nothing walks into melee, and Typhoeus’s hover evasion covers the one operator who does draw pressure. As a positioning answer it is genuinely good, and his full rotation guide lines up the two damage windows.
What it is not is an elemental core. He applies Electric, she wants Nature, and neither of them feeds the other’s resource. If you run this pair, the third slot has to be a Nature applicator or Typhoeus is generating Signs the slow way while Zhuang Fangyi does the work. Build it as Typhoeus, Zhuang Fangyi, Ardelia, and a healer rather than as a two-carry shell.
The Fourth Slot: Xaihi, Perlica, Antal
Once the applicator is settled, the last seat is a straight preference call.
Xaihi is the safe pick. Dedicated Cryo healing, and the Cryo Susceptibility she layers stacks on a different multiplier from anything in the Nature package, so nothing overlaps.
Perlica is the tempo pick. SP generation means more Battle Skill casts, and more Battle Skill casts means more hover windows, which is the resource Typhoeus is actually short on. Take this when the fight is long and you already have healing.
Antal is the cheap pick. A 4-star applying Focus for extended Susceptibility coverage, which is more damage per Oroberyl spent than almost anything else you can slot.
The one thing to avoid in this seat is a second damage carry that competes for field time. Typhoeus wants to be the operator you are controlling during her hover windows, because her Aerial Basic Attacks only exist while she is airborne.
Quick-Reference: Typhoeus Pairing Tiers
| Tier | Operators | Why pair them |
|---|---|---|
| Best partner | Gilberta (6-star) | Groups enemies into the Barrage Array, applies Nature Infliction and Arts Susceptibility, passive team Ultimate Gain |
| Default partner | Ardelia (free) | Corrosion plus healing in one slot, switches on Hot Work and Xiranflow, costs nothing |
| Fastest feed | Arcane INT (6-star) | Reapplies Nature Infliction faster than Typhoeus consumes it, force-applies Corrosion on Ultimate |
| Free answers | Fluorite (free), Purrchena (free, Sept 24) | Solve the Nature Infliction dependency at zero cost, Purrchena adds a shield |
| Fourth slot | Xaihi, Perlica, Antal | Healing, SP for more hover windows, or cheap Susceptibility coverage |
| Positioning only | Zhuang Fangyi | Shares range and weapon class, but feeds her nothing elementally |
| Competing | A second Nature carry | Eats the same Infliction stacks she does, and one of you loses the race |
| Off-theme | Laevatain, Mi Fu, Yvonne | Different element plans, no Nature applicator, no grouping |
The bottom three rows are the ones worth reading twice. Typhoeus is easy to build a team for and easy to build the wrong team for, and the failure mode is almost always over-committing to Nature rather than under-committing.
Teams by Content Type
The three-operator core rarely changes. The fourth slot rotates.
| Content | Team | What the flex slot is doing |
|---|---|---|
| Story and overworld | Typhoeus . Ardelia . Fluorite . any tank | Survivability while you learn her hover timing |
| Single-target boss | Typhoeus . Arcane INT . Ardelia . Xaihi | Maximum Infliction uptime on one target, healing to survive the fight |
| Umbral Monument and CC | Typhoeus . Gilberta . Ardelia . Perlica | Grouping plus control, with SP to keep hover windows coming |
| Farming and AoE waves | Typhoeus . Gilberta . Arcane INT . Antal | Everything stacked into one zone, cheap Susceptibility on top |
Boss fights are where her two-target Battle Skill stops mattering and her Hunting Arrow burst starts carrying everything, so the priority shifts to keeping Nature Infliction glued to a single target. That is Arcane’s fight.
Wave content flips it. Grouping becomes the highest-value effect on the field because the Barrage Array, the slow, the Nature Burst amplification, and Hail of Arrows all pay per enemy standing in the same place. Gilberta is not optional there, she is the point.
Who to Build Before September 2
- F2P and light spender: Build Ardelia and Fluorite now, and mark September 24 for Purrchena. All three are free, and Ardelia earns her slot on half your other teams regardless of whether Typhoeus lands.
- Arcane owner: You already have the best feed in the game. Build toward the Corrosion package on both operators and slot a dedicated healer fourth, because that pair has none.
- Gilberta owner: Do nothing special. Your best Typhoeus team already exists on your account, and Gilberta is likely to stay in it through several patches.
- Zhuang Fangyi player: Do not assume the Arts Unit overlap means synergy. Build a Nature applicator before you build anything else, or the pair underperforms.
- Whale: Pull the signature Umbra of Frigid Eventide from Deep Cold Arsenal Issue and run Gilberta, Arcane INT, and Typhoeus with a healer. Check your Oroberyl against the 120-pull floor with our pity calculator before you commit to both banners.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Opening the rotation with Typhoeus. Her first Battle Skill is worth double if there is already Nature Infliction to eat. Apply first, then lift off.
- Running two Nature carries. They fight over the same stacks and whoever presses first wins. One applicator plus a second element beats a mono-Nature squad.
- Treating the greatbow as a new weapon class. She equips an Arts Unit. Everything already in that pool is legal on her, and no new weapon type shipped with 1.5.
- Building the team around damage buffs instead of applicators. A support who adds 20% damage does less for her than one who halves the time it takes to reach her Combo Skill.
- Playing her from the ground. Aerial Basic Attacks are the entire engine, and hovering evades ground attacks. Time spent grounded is time spent doing neither.
- Trusting pre-release numbers. No multipliers, cooldowns, or hover durations are confirmed. Team logic holds regardless of where those land, individual damage rankings do not.
What Would Change These Recommendations
- A hard duration cap on Hovering. If the hover window is short or easy to interrupt, SP supports like Perlica jump above elemental partners, because more Battle Skill casts becomes the binding constraint.
- Whether Infliction from two sources stacks for consumption. If she can eat two stacks per hit, doubling up on applicators becomes correct and the whole tier table shifts.
- Purrchena’s real recast timing. The build guide’s case for her rests on a free recast whose cooldown nobody has measured. If it is slow, Fluorite keeps the free slot.
- Sign generation without an applicator. If the baseline rate turns out to be fast enough on its own, she becomes far less team-dependent and the fourth slot opens up entirely.
Final Verdict
Typhoeus is the rare limited operator whose team-building question has a clean answer: give her one Nature applicator and then build the other two slots for whatever the content asks for. That is a low bar, and it is met by a free operator you probably already own.
Where it gets interesting is the ceiling. Grouping supports pay her more than damage supports do, because almost every good thing in her kit is a zone effect that scales with how many enemies stand inside it. That makes Gilberta the partner worth chasing and Ardelia the partner worth building tonight. If you own Arcane, you already have the fastest version of the loop and only need to add healing.
The thing to avoid is the instinct to answer a Nature carry with more Nature. She consumes the resource her partners create, so a second consumer is a subtraction. Pick one applicator, pick a second element, and let her stay in the air.
Frequently Asked Questions
Who is the best teammate for Typhoeus in Arknights: Endfield? Ardelia, for most accounts. She is free, she applies Corrosion, and she heals, which covers the Nature partner requirement and the sustain slot in one operator. Gilberta is the better answer once you own her, because her grouping stacks enemies into the zone Typhoeus is already shooting into.
Does Typhoeus need a Nature teammate to function? She works without one, she just works slowly. Each Aerial Basic Attack that consumes Nature Infliction gives her a bonus Sign, and Signs are what unlock her Combo Skill. With no applicator she climbs to the threshold one hit at a time and her Hunting Arrow refills come much later in a fight.
Can I run two Nature carries alongside Typhoeus? It usually costs you damage. A second Nature carry wants the same Infliction stacks Typhoeus eats, and whoever presses a button first takes them. Run one Nature applicator plus a second element instead, so the reaction payoff sets on both operators stay live.
Is Ardelia or Gilberta better with Typhoeus? Gilberta has the higher ceiling and Ardelia has the lower floor. Gilberta groups enemies and layers Arts Susceptibility, which multiplies the value of the Barrage Array and Hail of Arrows. Ardelia is free, applies Corrosion, and heals, so she keeps the team alive in content where Gilberta cannot.
Does Purrchena work with Typhoeus? Yes, and the timing is deliberate. Purrchena’s free Battle Skill recast applies Nature Infliction, which is exactly what Typhoeus consumes for bonus Signs. She is a free 5-star arriving September 24, 2026 in Phase 2, three weeks after the Winter Hunt banner.
What is the best free team for Typhoeus? Typhoeus, Fluorite, Ardelia, and any tank until September 24, then swap Fluorite for Purrchena. Fluorite is a free Nature Caster who solves the Infliction dependency, Ardelia covers Corrosion and healing, and Purrchena later does the same applicator job with better cooldowns and a shield.
Should Typhoeus be the operator you control? Yes, during her hover windows. Her Aerial Basic Attacks only happen while she is airborne, and hovering evades ground attacks, so time on her is both damage and defense. Swap out to reapply Nature Infliction while her Battle Skill is on cooldown, then swap back in.
Does Typhoeus work with Zhuang Fangyi? They share a weapon class and a comfortable range, so the pair positions well, but neither one applies Nature Infliction for the other. Treat that as a positioning shell rather than an elemental core and add a Nature applicator in the third slot.
What attribute does Typhoeus scale on? The Talos wiki now lists her main attribute as Agility with Will as the sub, which lines up with the Agility Boost line on her signature weapon. It is still pre-release data, so read her attribute panel on day one before you spend an essence budget on Agility rerolls.
When does Typhoeus release? September 2, 2026 at 12:00 AM UTC+8, which is the evening of September 1 in the Americas. She headlines the Winter Hunt banner in Phase 1 of Version 1.5, Dreamscape of Wind and Snow.
Endfield Hub is a fan-made resource for Arknights: Endfield and is not affiliated with Hypergryph or Yostar. Typhoeus’s exact numbers confirm at launch, and we will revisit these pairings with real damage figures once the Winter Hunt banner is live.
