The Rooted Realm: Full Route and Path Map
Table of Contents

Fifteen numbered routes, six battle chambers, three separate endings, and a hidden route the game never puts a door in front of. Here is the whole Rooted Realm map read in one go.

TL;DR - Key Points

  • The best full path is 0 into 1, 4, 8, 11, then 13, worth roughly 600 Aurylene Fragments. In door terms: left, right, right, right, then Route 13.
  • Every other complete path lands 20 to 100 fragments lower. A real gap, but not a run-ender, so a clean run on a worse path still beats a sloppy run on the best one.
  • Route 13 is not a door. It is the hidden exit from the right-hand KABAM! KABAM! chamber, opened by triggering a reactive device with either an Easy Tools bomb or a direct attack.
  • There are three separate Shower of Coins endings, fed by Route 12, Route 13 and Route 14. Only the KABAM! KABAM! chamber you reach on Route 11 can access two of them.
  • Routes 3 and 6 are funnels. Take either and every remaining choice is made for you, with no path to Route 13.
  • Left doors are blue, right doors are orange or gold. Faster to read mid-run than a route number.
  • The 30 minute limit is new. The August 16 optimization replaced a set of tight per-route timers, and the originals are documented below.
  • The event ends September 1 at 17:00 on Americas and Europe servers, September 2 at 06:00 on Asia.

The Full Route Map

Flowchart of The Rooted Realm running bottom to top: Start through Route 0 into Stomp Slugs, branching through two Wizard Chase nodes, four Mister Punching Bag nodes, three Bouncy Tyrant nodes and two KABAM! KABAM! nodes, with Routes 12, 13 and 14 leading to three separate Shower of Coins goals

Read it bottom to top. Every run starts at the same node and climbs through six layers of battle chambers, and the chamber type at each layer never changes:

Start into Stomp Slugs into Wizard Chase into Mister Punching Bag into The Bouncy Tyrant into KABAM! KABAM! into Shower of Coins.

What changes is which copy of each chamber you land in. The map holds one Stomp Slugs, two Wizard Chases, four Mister Punching Bags, three Bouncy Tyrants, two KABAM! KABAM!s and three Shower of Coins endings, wired together by the fifteen numbered routes. The chambers pay out fairly consistently. The routes connecting them do not, and that is where your fragment total is won or lost.

Two reading aids. First, the door colours: left is blue, right is orange or gold, and the lower-numbered route out of any chamber is always the left one. You will register a colour long before you register a route number on a loading transition. Second, the lettered variants on Routes 7 through 11, which are explained below and are not what most players assume they are.

How the Branching Works

The routes are numbered sequentially across the whole map rather than restarting per layer, which is why the pairs in front of you look scrambled. Flattened out:

Layer Chamber Routes in Routes out
1 Stomp Slugs Route 0 (forced) Routes 1, 2
2 Wizard Chase (left) Route 1 Routes 3, 4
2 Wizard Chase (right) Route 2 Routes 5, 6
3 Mister Punching Bag 1 Route 3 Route 7a only
3 Mister Punching Bag 2 Route 4 Routes 7b, 8a
3 Mister Punching Bag 3 Route 5 Routes 8b, 9a
3 Mister Punching Bag 4 Route 6 Route 9b only
4 Bouncy Tyrant 1 Routes 7a, 7b Route 10a only
4 Bouncy Tyrant 2 Routes 8a, 8b Routes 10b, 11a
4 Bouncy Tyrant 3 Routes 9a, 9b Route 11b only
5 KABAM! KABAM! 1 Routes 10a, 10b Route 12
5 KABAM! KABAM! 2 Routes 11a, 11b Routes 13, 14
6 Shower of Coins Routes 12, 13, 14 Three separate goals

Three structural facts fall out of that table, and they matter more than any individual route’s fragment count.

The outer chambers are dead ends with extra steps. Mister Punching Bag 1 and 4 have exactly one exit each, and they feed Bouncy Tyrant 1 and 3, which also have exactly one exit each. Commit to Route 3 or Route 6 at the second decision point and the entire back half of your run is already decided. You cannot reach Route 13 from either.

Only one KABAM! KABAM! has the hidden route. The left-hand one, reached on Route 10, has a single exit: Route 12 into the left Shower of Coins. The right-hand one, reached on Route 11, is the only chamber on the map with two exits at the final layer, Route 13 and Route 14. Every optimal-path discussion for this event is really a discussion about how to get into that chamber.

The a/b labels are not a fork. This is the part people misread. Routes 7a and 7b do not branch from the same chamber. 7a comes from Mister Punching Bag 1 and 7b comes from Mister Punching Bag 2, and both terminate at Bouncy Tyrant 1. The letters describe the two different physical approaches into a shared destination, one marked upper and one lower, not two options you choose between at a single door. The full split: 7a, 8b, 9b, 10a and 11b are the lower approaches; 7b, 8a, 9a, 10b and 11a are the upper ones.

That last point has a practical consequence. Because the upper and lower approaches to a chamber originate in different chambers, you cannot see both from where you are standing. Which approach you take was decided one layer earlier.

The Highest-Fragment Path

The path worth memorizing is:

Route 0 into Route 1 into Route 4 into Route 8a into Route 11a into Route 13.

In door terms: left, right, right, right, then Route 13.

That chain lands around 600 Aurylene Fragments on a clean run. Every other complete path through the map comes in 20 to 100 fragments lower.

Step by step:

Route 0 is forced. Drop in, clear Stomp Slugs, no decision to make.

Route 1 is the left door out of Stomp Slugs, into the left-hand Wizard Chase.

Route 4 is the right door out of that Wizard Chase, into Mister Punching Bag 2. This is where most runs go wrong. A left-hand run feels like it should continue left, and Route 3 is sitting right there, but Route 3 leads to the single-exit funnel described above. Take the right door.

Route 8a is the right door out of Mister Punching Bag 2, into the centre Bouncy Tyrant. This is the upper approach into that chamber.

Route 11a is the right door out of the centre Bouncy Tyrant, into the right-hand KABAM! KABAM!. Again the upper approach, and the only reason this chamber matters is what comes next.

Route 13 is the payoff, and it is the section below.

Worth being honest about: 600 is a good run on this path, not a floor. Missed crates, blown pressure-switch timings and a fumbled chamber will pull you well under it. A tidy run on a 550-fragment path beats a messy one here, so do not abandon a good run just because you took a left where the map says right.

Route 13, the Hidden Route

Route 13 is the single most-searched thing about this event, and the reason is that there is no door. No blue portal, no gold portal. Route 13 is a hidden exit from the right-hand KABAM! KABAM! chamber, the one you arrive at on Route 11, and it opens only when you trigger a reactive device.

The map records two ways to set it off, drawn as two separate dashed lines into the same centre Shower of Coins:

Easy Tools: Bomb. Place a bomb from the Easy Tools wheel next to the reactive device and let it detonate. Reliable, and the method to use if you are not confident about positioning.

Attack the reactive device. Hit it directly with your operator. Faster, but you need to be in range and land the hit cleanly, and a whiffed attempt costs time.

Both open the same route to the same ending. Neither is better in fragment terms.

The other exit from that chamber is Route 14, which goes to the right-hand Shower of Coins and needs no device at all. If you cannot get the reactive device to fire, Route 14 is your fallback, and it is still a completed run.

Discovering Route 13 is a Phase 2 Realm Quest worth 200 Journey Points, double what a Phase 1 quest pays. That is a direct progression reason to go looking for it even on a run you have otherwise written off.

125 Fragments in a Single Route

This is the objective that stalls the most players, and the confusion is almost always about scope. It counts fragments collected within one route, not across a whole exploration. You do not need a perfect overall run.

The answer is Route 11 into the right-hand KABAM! KABAM! and out through Route 13. Route 11 is the fourth door choice of a run, the second in the Phase 2 half of the map, and that whole stretch is the densest fragment corridor on the board.

The same logic covers the cheaper quests in the Realm Quest list. 50 fragments from a single chamber and 50 fragments from a single route both clear comfortably on this stretch, so one good Route 11 run can knock out several objectives at once. Combined with 200 fragments from a single exploration, that is most of the Phase 1 quest board resolved by learning one corridor.

Original Per-Route Time Limits

Read this section as history, not as current rules. The August 16, 2026 optimization update replaced the original timing system with a flat 30 minute challenge limit, which is what you are playing under now.

Before that patch, every route carried its own individual timer. Those numbers were recorded before they were removed, and they are still useful as a pacing reference: they tell you roughly how much content the designers put in each stretch, which is a decent check on whether you are over-exploring a short route or rushing a dense one.

Route Original limit Route Original limit
Route 0 30s Route 8 1m 20s
Route 1 1m Route 9 1m 10s
Route 2 50s Route 10 1m 10s
Route 3 1m Route 11 1m 30s
Route 4 2m 15s Route 12 1m
Route 5 1m Route 13 1m 30s
Route 6 1m 20s Route 14 Unconfirmed
Route 7 1m 5s

Two things jump out.

Route 4 was an outlier at 2 minutes 15 seconds. That is more than double most of its neighbours and a large share of the whole original run budget, which is a strong signal that Route 4 is a genuinely large exploration space. It also sits on the recommended path, which is unlikely to be a coincidence.

Routes 11 and 13 both got 1 minute 30 seconds, the joint-longest allocation after Route 4. Three minutes of original budget across the two of them, consistent with that corridor being the densest fragment stretch on the map and with it being the answer to the 125-fragment quest.

Two gaps remain in the record: no footage documenting Route 14’s original timer has surfaced, and it is unknown whether the upper and lower approaches ran on separate clocks or shared one timer per route number.

Chamber Cheat Sheet

The chambers are the fixed points of every run, so knowing what each one wants saves more time than optimal routing does.

Chamber Phase The mechanic that matters
Stomp Slugs 1 Acid Originium Slugs stay sealed in their shells. Only dive attacks deal damage. Regular attacks do nothing at all.
Wizard Chase 1 Bonekrusher Pyromancers teleport around the arena on a timer. Commit to burst windows, do not chase them.
Mister Punching Bag 1 Fill the Bonekrusher Siegeknuckles’ Stagger meter to force drops. Interrupting its charge-up skill scatters armour scales for bonus fragments.
The Bouncy Tyrant 2 Layer 4 chamber, three copies on the map.
KABAM! KABAM! 2 Layer 5 chamber, two copies. Only the Route 11 copy has the Route 13 reactive device.
Shower of Coins 2 The finale, three separate copies. Clearing it grants an exclusive engraved medal.

Stomp Slugs is the one that catches people cold on a first run. If your damage is reading as zero, you are not using dive attacks, and nothing else in your kit will work there.

Mister Punching Bag rewards aggression over patience. The armour scales from interrupting the charge-up are a meaningful share of that chamber’s payout rather than a bonus flourish, so building for stagger pressure pays off directly. Our stagger tier list covers which operators break poise fastest.

Rewards and Deadline

Fragments and Realm Quests both feed Journey Points, which unlock the Rooted Journey reward track. Points are cumulative and the track runs to 3,600.

Realm Quests are the efficient source. Phase 1 quests pay 100 points each:

  • Complete the Mister Punching Bag chamber
  • Collect 200 fragments from a single exploration
  • Collect 50 fragments from a single chamber challenge
  • Collect 50 fragments from a single route
  • Smash wooden crates 25 times
  • Trigger pressure switches 25 times

Phase 2 quests pay 200 points each, including the Route 13 discovery.

The reward track pays out on a repeating six-step cycle:

Points Rewards
100 Advanced Cognitive Carrier x6, Arms INSP Set x15
200 Mark of Perseverance x1, T-Creds x40,000
300 Oroberyl x100, Protohedron x15
400 Protoset x12, Heavy Cast Die x12
500 Mark of Perseverance x1, T-Creds x40,000
600 Oroberyl x300, Advanced Progression Selection Crate I x5

That pattern repeats through the 700 to 1,200 band, with milestones every 100 points up to 1,200 and every 200 points from there to 3,600. Total event payout is Oroberyl x1600 plus the Mark of Perseverance line, matching what the Version 1.4 patch notes listed at announcement.

The cosmetic chase is the engraved medal from clearing Shower of Coins, which gets trimmed if you finish every Realm Quest across both phases.

Deadline: September 1, 2026 at 17:00 for Americas and Europe, September 2 at 06:00 for Asia. The mode is not permanent.

Strategy by Player Type

If you are chasing a fragment score. Memorize left, right, right, right, 13, and treat Route 4 as the stretch to slow down on given it carried more than double the original time budget of its neighbours. One theory worth testing is that since upper approaches appear to hold more, you can climb the upper path and backtrack partway down onto the lower one before committing to the battle chamber to sweep both. That is unproven rather than established, so try it on a run you are willing to lose.

If you just want the Journey Points and the Oroberyl. Ignore the optimal path entirely. Quest objectives are scoped to single routes and single chambers, so a focused Route 11 into 13 run clears the 125-fragment, 50-per-route and 50-per-chamber quests together. Crates and pressure switches are 25 interactions each and accumulate across every run, so they finish on their own while you work on everything else.

If you are lower progress or short on time. The 30 minute limit is generous now, and nothing here gates on operator investment the way an Umbral Monument stage does. Do the unlock mission for the free 5,000 T-Creds, clear the six Phase 1 quests at 100 points each, take the early Rooted Journey tiers, and stop when the marginal reward stops justifying the run time.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

Attacking the slugs normally. Only dive attacks damage the shelled Acid Originium Slugs in Stomp Slugs. Zero damage numbers mean you are using the wrong input, not the wrong operator.

Taking Route 3 after Route 1. A left-hand run feels like it should continue left. It should not. Route 3 dead-ends into a single-exit chain with no access to Route 13.

Hunting for a Route 13 door. There isn’t one. It is a reactive device inside the right-hand KABAM! KABAM! chamber, and it opens with an Easy Tools bomb or a direct hit.

Assuming both KABAM! KABAM! chambers are the same. The left one has a single exit. Only the one you reach on Route 11 leads to Route 13.

Treating the 125-fragment quest as a full-run objective. It counts per route. One good Route 11 into 13 stretch clears it.

Skipping the charge-up interrupt on Mister Punching Bag. The scattered armour scales are a real chunk of that chamber’s payout.

Still speed-running individual routes. The per-route timers were replaced with a flat 30 minute limit on August 16. Rushing out of habit leaves fragments on the floor.

Watch List: What Could Change

Route 14’s original timer. No footage documenting it has surfaced. It is the one gap in the record of the pre-patch timing system.

Whether upper and lower approaches ran on separate clocks. Currently unknown, and the answer would change how the original pacing budgets should be read.

Whether upper approaches really do hold more fragments. Widely assumed, not yet measured route by route.

Further optimization patches. The August 16 update was a substantial response to feedback about the mode being too run-gated. Another pass before the event closes is plausible.

A rerun in a later version. The map design is strong enough to reuse even where the event structure around it was not, so a refined rerun is a reasonable expectation.

Final Read

The Rooted Realm is a better-designed map than it is an event. Fifteen routes, asymmetric branching where the outer paths quietly close your options while the inner ones keep them open, three distinct endings, and a hidden route sitting behind an environmental puzzle rather than a door: that is genuinely thoughtful level design, and it holds up against anything the game has shipped in a side mode. The friction was always in the presentation, in objectives that pushed you to treat every run as a graded mission rather than an exploration. The August 16 shift to a flat 30 minute limit fixed most of it.

If you are coming in now, you are playing the good version. Learn the path, go set off the reactive device, and clear the Realm Quests before September 1. If you want another mode with the same run-planning texture, Etchspace Salvage routes is the closest neighbour, and the Aurylene collection guide covers the fragment economy outside the event.

FAQ

What is the best route in The Rooted Realm?

Route 0 into 1, then 4, then 8, then 11, then 13. In door terms that is left, right, right, right, then Route 13. The chain lands around 600 Aurylene Fragments, and every other complete path through the map comes in roughly 20 to 100 fragments lower.

How do I find Route 13?

Route 13 is the hidden exit from the right-hand KABAM! KABAM! chamber, the one you reach on Route 11. It does not appear as a door. You have to trigger a reactive device, and the map records two ways to do it: an Easy Tools bomb, or attacking the device directly. Both open the same route into the centre Shower of Coins. Discovering it is a Phase 2 Realm Quest worth 200 Journey Points.

How do I get 125 Aurylene Fragments from a single route?

Run Route 11 into the right-hand KABAM! KABAM! and out through Route 13. Route 11 is the fourth door choice of the run, and that stretch is the densest fragment corridor on the map. The quest counts fragments per route rather than per full exploration, so you do not need a clean overall run to clear it.

How long is the Rooted Realm time limit?

30 minutes for the whole challenge. That flat limit arrived in the August 16, 2026 optimization update and replaced the original system, where every route carried its own timer ranging from 30 seconds on Route 0 to 2 minutes 15 seconds on Route 4.

Which door is which, left or right?

Left doors are blue, right doors are orange or gold. On the map, the lower-numbered route out of any chamber is the left door and the higher-numbered one is the right. The recommended path reads as left, right, right, right, then Route 13.

What do the upper and lower route labels mean?

Each chamber in the middle of the map is fed by two different routes coming from two different chambers on the layer below, and the map marks one of those approaches upper and the other lower. Routes 7a, 8b, 9b, 10a and 11b are the lower approaches; 7b, 8a, 9a, 10b and 11a are the upper ones. Both land you in the same chamber, they just take different physical paths to get there.

Why should I avoid Route 3 and Route 6?

They are funnels. The outermost Mister Punching Bag chambers have only one exit each (Route 7a and Route 9b), and those feed the outermost Bouncy Tyrant chambers, which also have only one exit each. Take Route 3 or Route 6 and the rest of your run is decided for you, with no access to Route 13.

How do I unlock The Rooted Realm?

Complete the Guardian of the Realm mission. Open the Baker to read the messages from Vannikov, then speak with Algy near the Southern Meadows in Valley IV. Finishing it also pays 5,000 T-Creds.

What are the six battle chambers?

In map order: Stomp Slugs, Wizard Chase, Mister Punching Bag, The Bouncy Tyrant, KABAM! KABAM!, and Shower of Coins as the finale. The first three opened with Phase 1 on August 9, and the last three arrived with Phase 2 on August 15.

When does The Rooted Realm end?

September 1, 2026 at 17:00 for Americas and Europe servers, and September 2, 2026 at 06:00 for Asia. Journey Points and the Rooted Journey reward track are what is on that clock, so clear the Realm Quests before the window shuts.

Route numbering, chamber names and the two Route 13 reactive device variants follow the in-game map. Original per-route time limits describe the pre-August 16 build and no longer apply. Phase dates, Realm Quest objectives, Journey Point thresholds and reward values are current as of August 17, 2026.
