Wulfgard is Catello Wulfgard Luppino, the lone wolf who left his Landbreaker clan, the Pack, to work for Endfield. In his story quest he tracks a traitor inside the Pack, his old friend Giovanni, and kills him.

Then he carries the body out of the valley, buries him, burns his belongings and asks the Endmin to keep the whole thing secret. That is the darkest chapter of a character whose files are mostly about silence: the ambush he survived as a boy and will not describe, the clan he walked away from without a word, and the little sister he keeps sending gifts to instead of visiting.

How we checked this. Everything below comes from Wulfgard’s profile records, voice lines, text message threads and story quest summaries in the official English localization, checked against the current game data on 17 October 2026. Quest summaries in the game are short, so where we read between the lines, or where the text leaves something open, we say so.

Short version first: Wulfgard’s story in under three minutes, cut like an action-movie trailer, from our YouTube channel. The full story with every source follows below. More backstories are on the Endfield lore hub.

TL;DR - Key Points

  • Full name Catello Wulfgard Luppino. A Lupo of the Pack, born November 16, Rossi’s older brother and a 5-star Heat caster with a Handcannon.
  • The Bonekrushers shattered the Pack over ten years ago. They struck just after the clan’s leader, the Alpharion, died. He and his sister survived and “refused to speak of what truly happened.”
  • He kept his family alive with secondhand guns. One activator failed, so he learned to reload one-handed, and he supported his family on three years of mercenary pay.
  • He left the Pack and never said why. “I want another future for the Pack… and Endfield holds the possibility of making it real.”
  • His story quest is a traitor hunt. Rossi reports him missing, the Endmin finds him chasing traitors in the Pack, and the trail leads to Giovanni, a Pack member who seems close to him.
  • He kills Giovanni, then buries him. He carries the body out of the Valley Pass, lays him to rest at the edge of the Hub, and asks the Endmin to keep the encounter secret.
  • The game never names who was behind Giovanni. Giovanni says someone else is pulling the strings and dies without saying who.

Who Is Wulfgard?

Wulfgard’s full name is Catello Wulfgard Luppino. He is a Lupo born on November 16, from a Landbreaker clan called the Pack, and he is the clan’s appointed representative in a partnership with Endfield Industries. Supervisor Perlica recommended him, and he serves on the Crisis Team of the Specialist Tech Division. In battle he is a 5-star caster who deals Heat damage with a Handcannon; his kit, builds and damage numbers are on his operator page. He is Oripathy positive, and his English voice actor is Jacopo Calatroni.

He introduces himself like a contract: “Catello Wulfgard Luppino, Endfield Crisis Team. I represent the Pack. Give me any merc job, and as long as our contract stands, I’ll be your claws and fangs.”

His HR summary describes a loner. He prefers to work alone, excels at covert operations, is “reluctant to engage in interpersonal matters,” and “has a knack for turning any object (even a pen) into a weapon.” His medical note warns that “each scar stands as evidence of past trials” and that he needs to stop “charging in alone every time.”

The name comes from the clan. According to Rossi, children of the Pack go through a coming-of-age ceremony at thirteen, where the clan chooses a granted name for the new wolf: “Catello’s name is ‘Wulfgard’, and mine is ‘Wulfperl’.” One character in his quest text finds it less intimidating than intended: “Wulfgard? Awww, that’s almost cute, like a puppy pretending to be a wolf.”

The Pack, and the Ambush He Won’t Talk About

Most Landbreakers are seen as “destroyers of order.” His files say the Pack is the exception: it values order, keeps a peaceful attitude toward the Civilization Band, and clings to “strong familial bonds and a deep respect for unity.”

That difference fed a long feud with the rival clan, the Bonekrushers. Over ten years ago, the Bonekrushers ambushed the Pack just after the death of its Alpharion, the clan’s leader, when it was at its weakest. “Wulfgard and his younger sister survived the attack, but they refused to speak of what truly happened.”

He comes closest in a promotion line: “I witnessed the Pack brought low and the devastation that came with it. This is why I’ve decided to find a new path for Rossi and the rest of the wolves.” And in one line about his sister he describes her as she was then: “the helpless babe wrapped in blood-soaked blankets.” Rossi’s side of that night, including the old wolf who carried her out, is in our Rossi lore post.

He also does not romanticize where the Pack came from. “My Landbreaker identity is the result of a bad choice made by my ancestors. We betrayed the Civilization Band to join the Breaker Lords, yet we failed to bring about the order or justice we dreamed of.” For how the Landbreaker clans rose in the first place, see Jakub Meissen and the Landbreakers’ golden age.

The Guns That Kept Them Alive

His fourth profile file is about his first weapons: worn, secondhand guns passed down from the clan’s elders. Running low on compatible ammo, they were still “priceless treasures back then. They kept him and his sister alive, earned him his first mercenary contract, and helped him take down his first target.”

When one of the guns’ Originium activators failed, he had to master one-handed reloads and maintenance. It took three years of supporting his family with mercenary pay before he could replace the activator and craft a set of custom-etched ammo. The guns finally died on a high-stakes escort mission, overheating after prolonged firing.

That is where his habit comes from. “Gun checks are my ritual. In the wild, if your fangs fail, you’re meat… I went through it as a young pup. That lesson stuck. I won’t be prey again.”

After that, a bounty hunter who had come back to the Pack, Uncle Rust, opened a refurbishment shop called Howlfire Gunsmiths, and Wulfgard learned custom modification there. It stuck too: at Endfield he tweaks new weapons in front of their designers and tells them “It works better this way,” which put him on the arsenal team’s “unwelcome” list.

Why He Left the Pack

“Wulfgard then left the Pack a few years after his coming-of-age ceremony, keeping in touch with only a few trusted friends and his sister. No one ever knew why he left. He stayed silent, just like he did about the attack.”

The same file describes the morning he went. He stands in front of Il Cacciatore, “the massive rig that had been his and his sister’s home for nearly a decade,” and realizes there is nothing left worth taking. He runs through his checklist: make sure Rossi knows who in the clan can be trusted, ask Tommaso to keep a close watch over her, settle his last fees at Uncle Rust’s, feed Giovanni’s semi-wild fowlbeasts one last time and leave them with little Vincenzo next door. The last thing he checks is that Rossi’s handmade Originium lamp is switched off. On the way out he finds the old guns and keeps them, not sure whether they are “a reminder, a keepsake, or a memento of painful memories.”

Note the two names on that list. Tommaso is the man he trusts to look after his sister. Giovanni is someone whose animals he feeds before he goes. Both come back later.

He later approached Endfield himself and proposed the partnership. Asked why, he answered: “I want another future for the Pack… and Endfield holds the possibility of making it real.” His files say his honesty about the Pack’s struggles opened doors, and that operators who distrusted Landbreakers changed their minds because of him.

He is still unsure it is the right answer. “Working with Endfield might not be the best option, but I believe it is an important and special step we must take.” In a message thread he puts it more bluntly: “If the Pack stays the same, then there’s no future.”

The Brother Who Sends Gifts Instead

His third file is an audio log from Howlfire Gunsmiths. Uncle Rust scolds him for staying one day and not going home: Rossi has been complaining he will “pull the same stunt this year: ‘the gift arrives, but the brother doesn’t.’” It has been over half a year since the siblings last met, “at Tommaso’s place.” Rust then tells him what Rossi kept quiet: six months earlier she stuck her neck out for Old Bart and his men and landed on the Shadowskulls’ hit list. Fourteen of them showed up, and only Tommaso pulling strings and calling in Capone’s Fangs got them out of the black market alive. Wulfgard’s only reaction is to work out that Rust is the one who told Rossi he was heading north. Then Rust admits there were actually fifteen.

His text thread with the Endmin shows the same pattern. He asks for help picking a present for Rossi “to make up for not visiting her in ages,” then lists her milestones from memory: first hunt at 9, led a team against the Bonekrushers at 11, first merc job at 13. “She’s done it all alone. I wasn’t there.” The Endmin tells him to just go and talk to her. In the next thread he reports it worked (“I rarely see Rossi this happy”) and sends the Endmin a Luppino family talisman, like the ones he and Rossi each carry: “Wear it, and I’ll always be able to find u no matter where u go… if tht thing can’t protect u, I will.”

He says himself that he should spend more time with her. “I am just the fangs of the Pack, but Rossi will always be its heart and soul.” And on leading the clan: “becoming the Pack Alpharion has never been my goal. Rossi might be a better fit for that role.”

The Traitor in the Pack: His Story Quest

The quest begins with Rossi. At the Mining Camp she tells the Endmin that her brother has disappeared and hands over a tracker she made herself to help find him. Following it, the Endmin finds Wulfgard, who explains: there are traitors in the Pack. He will not go back with only that discovery; he wants the whole conspiracy exposed. To keep the promise to Rossi, the Endmin joins his investigation in Valley IV.

Giovanni

After a Bonekrusher ambush, they meet another member of the Pack: Giovanni, who “seems pretty close to Wulfgard.” He is disguised as a Bonekrusher, and he says he came to find Tommaso, whom he suspects has joined the Bonekrushers.

The problem: Wulfgard has just received news of Tommaso’s death. Giovanni’s story does not hold up, but Wulfgard and the Endmin silently agree not to call out the lie and let him tag along.

At a Bonekrusher post, Wulfgard notices something familiar about Giovanni’s dagger. Giovanni tells him he learned from Wulfgard’s tricks and custom-crafted the dagger for himself. The man who keeps modifying every weapon until it is his own is looking at a copy of his own work in a suspect’s hand.

The test, and the trap

Giovanni gets a camp location out of a Bonekrusher and proposes a high-risk team assault. Wulfgard, who is usually cautious, agrees. The Endmin understands he is testing Giovanni and plays along. They follow him to the Valley Pass.

It goes wrong. Chasing Giovanni, the two of them fall into a trap. Wulfgard apologizes: he admits he “has been distracted by his old friendship” and failed to treat Giovanni as a proper enemy. That the Endmin got caught too makes him feel “extremely guilty.” He steadies himself, and they find a way out together.

The execution

After the battle at the camp, Giovanni suddenly kills the defeated Bonekrusher chief. Wulfgard exposes him for what he is. In the argument that follows, Giovanni claims someone else is acting behind the scenes, but knowing he has failed his mission, he refuses to say more. He attacks the Endmin, and Wulfgard kills him.

The game’s own closing line for the chapter: “The incident is over and the traitor got what he deserved.”

What the quest does not tell you is just as important. It never names the person Giovanni says he was working for. It never explains how Tommaso died, and it does not say Giovanni was responsible. And nothing in the text links this plot to the ambush of ten years ago. Those are open threads, not answers.

The Grave at the Edge of the Hub

Wulfgard does not leave the body. He carries Giovanni out of the Valley Pass and lays him to rest at the outskirts of the Hub. When the Endmin finds him there, the two of them burn the rest of Giovanni’s belongings together. Wulfgard tells the Endmin about their past, confides his plan for what comes next, and asks to keep the entire encounter a secret between the two of them.

The quest summary does not record what he says about their past or what the plan is. It ends on this:

“Wulfgard found the truth and executed the traitor. He plunged that dagger in the earth before the grave… The Pack had changed. He knew what he had to do.”

The line says “that dagger” without naming it. The natural reading is Giovanni’s custom dagger, the one copied from Wulfgard’s own tricks, left standing over his grave. That is our reading; the text does not spell it out. Likewise, “he knew what he had to do” is all the game gives us about the plan.

It fits how he talks elsewhere. In a message thread he tells the Endmin that “folks’ll sell out their own blood if the price is right,” and in one voice line: “One can hardly force a lone wolf to turn its back on its former pack… But a few took the path of no return for the sake of survival… or for something they hold dear. I can’t sympathize with them, and I don’t intend to interfere. I simply recognize the resolve behind their choices.” The game does not tie either line to Giovanni.

His Other Cases: Landbreaker Attacks

Wulfgard is also Endfield’s go-to on Landbreaker affairs, and other quest text shows him investigating Landbreaker attacks. A man named Hartmann says Landbreakers attacked him and took his contract; Wulfgard doubts his description of the attackers, recommends checking the site, and comes to believe the “accident” was staged by Banders pretending to be Landbreakers. He then quietly asks the Endmin to keep the findings from Hartmann.

He also helps analyze a series of Landbreaker attack sites in Valley IV and identifies the attacker codenamed “Shadow” as likely Brenna of the Bonekrushers, a fighter who once challenged the clan leader Nefarith, lost, and was taken into her ranks instead of executed. With his help, Endfield’s analysts found what the victims had in common: all of them operated on the fringes of Nefarith’s so-called “blessings.” The summaries we have do not make clear how these investigations connect to each other, and they do not tie them to the traitor hunt.

What He Wants

He does not pretend the Pack is easy to fix. “I understand no outsider can change the Pack’s mentality, but what we need is an opportunity to start the change. How to present this ‘opportunity’ to the Pack is something I’ve been trying to figure out.”

His final message thread is the closest he gets to hope: “Bonekrushers are still our biggest threat, and it isn’t easy to shake off the ‘Landbreakers’ mark on the Pack. Work’s far from done. Endmin, one day, I hope ull see a whole new Pack.”

So Who Is Wulfgard?

A man who survived his clan’s worst night, raised his sister on secondhand guns and mercenary pay, then left the clan without a word so he could find it another future. When that future was threatened from inside, he hunted the traitor himself, even though it was an old friend, and paid for his hesitation by walking his commander into a trap. Then he buried the friend, burned what was left, and asked that nobody else ever know.

For Wulfgard in combat, see his Contingency Contract builds and teams. For his sister’s side of the family story, read why Rossi’s cloak is bloodstained, and for another life shaped by the Landbreakers, Estella’s backstory. Every operator backstory is on the Endfield lore hub.
